The Irish culture and people are unmatchedThe drinking culture in Ireland can be enjoyable. But, part of what makes the drinking and eating culture so vibrant in Ireland is the quality of the food and drink here. Plus, it's cheaper for me to shop for fresh produce in Ireland than it ever was in the US. At University College Dublin (UCD), I paid about €72,000, or about $78,000, for all four years of school and received a bachelor's degree in English. AdvertisementI wouldn't trade my decision to study at UCD for anything in the world regardless of how expensive living in Ireland is.

[1/2] Shane MacGowan, former lead singer of The Pogues, performs during the Montreux Jazz festival in the [Miles Davis] Hall late July 15, 1995. MacGowan and his band The Popes were part of the 'Irish Night' during the festival. MacGowan brought Irish traditional music to a huge new audience in the late 1980s by splicing it with punk, and achieved mainstream success with his bittersweet, expletive-strewn 1987 Christmas anthem "Fairytale of New York". Irish President Michael D. Higgins, also a poet, described MacGowan on Thursday as one of music's greatest lyricists. Following a decade with a new band, the Popes, MacGowan and the Pogues reunited and toured regularly until 2014.

NYON, Switzerland, Oct 10(Reuters) - The United Kingdom and Ireland will host the 2028 European Championship, while Italy and Turkey will stage the 2032 edition of the tournament, UEFA announced on Tuesday. By accepting a joint Italy-Turkey bid for Euro 2032 last week, and with Turkey withdrawing from the race for Euro 2028, the hosts for both tournaments were already all but assured. Turkey's withdrawal from the 2028 race left England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland and Wales as the sole joint bidders for that tournament. Euro 2028 will be the largest major sporting event the UK and Ireland have jointly staged. Wembley, with a capacity of 90,000, could be expected to host the final and possibly the semi-finals.

SAO PAULO, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Human rights groups and researchers have raised concerns in Brazil that social media platforms are failing to effectively police disinformation ahead of a highly polarized presidential vote on Sunday. Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) bolstered measures this month to tackle disinformation around the election, especially on video sharing platforms. "Social media platforms are failing Brazil's voters," said Deborah Brown, a senior researcher on digital rights at Human Rights Watch, who called the platforms and messaging apps "extremely important" spaces for electoral debate. "That space has been riddled with electoral disinformation, such as baseless allegations of electoral fraud," she said. "Social media companies bear some responsibility for the country being on tenterhooks about this year's election," Friedrich said.
