Howie Schwab, a sports nerd who parlayed his love of statistics into a long stint at ESPN that was most notable for his starring role as the ultimate trivia expert on the game show “Stump the Schwab,” died on Saturday in Aventura, Fla. Mr. Schwab had been at ESPN for 17 years in behind-the-scenes roles as a researcher and producer when he was tapped in 2004 to star in his own show. On “Stump the Schwab,” three challengers vied to outdo Mr. Schwab in answering questions posed by the host, Stuart Scott, in the opening rounds. In the final round — called the Schwab Showdown — the best of the three went head to head against him for a $25,000 grand prize. Mr. Schwab almost always won.

Guvernul Letoniei a decis joi, 8 iulie, să doneze R. Moldova un nou lot de vaccin împotriva Covid-19. Donația anunțată constituie 165 500 doze de vaccin Astra Zeneca. În această săptămână, guvernul Letoniei a luat o decizie de a dona 165 600 de doze de vaccin în cinci țări: Moldova, Georgia, Albania, Muntenegru și Kenya. La 11 iunie curent, în R. Moldova a ajuns un lot de 100 800 de doze de vaccin împotriva COVID-19, drept ajutor umanitar din partea României. Pe 7 mai, R. Moldova a recepționat un alt lot de 100 800 de doze de vaccin AstraZeneca din partea României.

Mulțumesc autorităților române pentru faptul că, de fiecare dată, au răspuns rapid și prin acțiuni concrete la solicitările de a ajuta Republica Moldova. Declarația a fost făcută de șeful statului, Maia Sandu, după decizia Executivului de la București de a dona țării noastre 100 620 de doze de vaccin marca Pfizer-BioNTech. Donația anunțată astăzi constituie 100 620 de doze marca Pfizer-BioNTech”, a spus Sandu. Astfel, cantitatea totală de vaccin, pe care a oferit-o România țării noastre în ultimele luni, depășește cifră de 500 de mii de doze. Începând cu data de 2 martie și până astăzi în Republica Moldova au fost administrate 763 927 doze de ser anti-COVID.
