A San Mateo County judge on June 20 granted Dharmesh Patel's request to participate in a mental health diversion program, which would allow him to avoid a trial on charges of attempted murder. AdvertisementThe ability to participate in diversion programs — for juveniles, veterans, or defendants struggling with mental health diagnoses or substance abuse struggles — is an increasingly popular alternative to jail sentences across the US. Wagstaffe told BI the charges against Patel have now been suspended and if he successfully completes the two years of the diversion program, the charges would be automatically dismissed. Under California law, defendants are ineligible for the diversion program if they have been charged with other offenses, including murder, involuntary manslaughter, and rape."

Chirag Bahri worked as an engineer on merchant vessels during a nearly decade-long career at sea. In 2010, his chemical tanker was held hostage by pirates for eight months. I had just joined the crew and I really needed to be on the ship to earn money. I was in the engine room when I got the call that pirates had boarded the ship. I still cherish the time I spent working onboard ships and I would encourage people to look at seafaring as a very positive, rewarding profession.

Amazon announced new supply-chain services Tuesday that expand its fulfillment and logistics operations for sales outside of Amazon.com. Amazon has spent billions on its global fulfillment operations, Fulfillment by Amazon, or FBA. "A seller doesn't want to have two sets of supply-chain services, one that's for Amazon and one that's for someone else. For example, it offers multi-channel fulfillment, which enables sellers to use Amazon's services to fulfill customers' orders even if the sale took place off of Amazon. Mehta said that he expects Buy with Prime to "naturally benefit" from Amazon's continued investment in supply chain tools.

Amazon is adding a new charge for third-party sellers who ship their own products instead of paying for the company's fulfillment services. Previously, there was no such fee for sellers. The e-commerce giant also charges sellers a referral fee between 8% and 15% on each sale. Regulators have examined whether Amazon pressures sellers into using its services in exchange for preferential treatment on the marketplace. In a blog post on Monday, the company argued sellers continue to flock to its sprawling marketplace "because it's a great value."

Online marketplaces in the United States including Amazon face hurdles in keeping counterfeiters off their platforms and fake merchandise from entering their warehouses. The new program mimics data exchange programs by the credit card industry to find scammers and identify their tactics. Stores and Amazon marketplace sellers can anonymously contribute information and records flagging counterfeiters to a third-party database or use the database to avoid doing business with the bad actors. The Seattle-based retail giant piloted the anti-counterfeiting initiative in 2021 with an undisclosed number of apparel, home goods and cosmetics stores, where counterfeiting is most common. While the sample was small, the fact that none of these shoes made it to a Singapore recycling facility underscores weaknesses in the system. Dow said these builds will use the 10,000 kilograms (22,000 pounds) of recycled shoe material that have been produced through the Singapore recycling project so far. Reuters had dropped those shoes into a Dow recycling bin at a Singapore community center in September, three months earlier. Recycling flopsThis is not the first novel recycling scheme launched by Dow that hasn’t lived up to its billing. In its Jan. 18 statement, Dow said the shoe recycling partners are “energized by the common vision of sport championing a greener and more sustainable Singapore.” Dow did not comment on the Journal of Consumer Psychology study.

Patel, a 41-year-old woman and two children ages 4 and 7 — both of whom were in car seats — were also in the SUV, California Highway Patrol spokesman Mark Andrews said. Nor is it clear what driving mode Patel was using before the SUV careened off the cliff, the California Highway Patrol said. “In my 35 years of working on vehicle safety, I’ve never had an automaker say, 'Look at this crash test we’re doing for extra credit,'” he said. Once criminals “fatten up” their victims’ digital wallets, they steal the money, Rosen says. “Online criminals’ scams are only limited by their imagination, and they have an impeccable sense of timing,” says Fisher. “They will not make you pay in advance to collect your money.”There were approximately 60 fake sweepstakes victims in New Mexico alone last year whose collective losses totaled $1 million, he says.

As a manager, it can be tempting to do everything within your power to hold on to your best people. But that kind of thinking can ultimately backfire on you as a leader, explained Dharmesh Arora, regional CEO for Asia Pacific at German manufacturer Schaeffler. Arora learned this lesson the hard way during his first managerial stint as a supply chain manager at General Motors. Within three years, he helped me fix some of the perennial demand management and supply chain challenges we had in our systems," Arora recalled. "We as managers, as leaders, are to empower and enable the best in our team members," Arora said.
MILAN, Oct 20 (Reuters) - U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN.O) said on Thursday it had filed legal complaints in Italy and Spain as it steps up efforts globally to shut down fake review brokers. In its first criminal complaint in Europe, Amazon said it was targeting a "high-profile broker in Italy selling fake reviews", but did not name the person. Four- and five-star reviews can aid sales, especially if customers perceive them as unbiased. Amazon also filed a civil complaint in Spain against Agencia Reviews, alleging the Spanish-based operator was fully reimbursing customers once they publish a fake 5-star review. The company also said it had sent warnings to five websites in Germany that were directing visitors to a fake review broker, adding that all have since agreed to stop this activity by signing a cease and desist letter.
