Every paycheck I get goes to Navient," Pucci, 59, told BI. I feel trapped, and this has been so traumatic, especially the last couple of months, it's been really, really difficult." Quadir told CNBC she has a short position in the stock, meaning she is betting that the share price will decline. "We believe that Adtalem is completely uninvestable, the number of existential risks that exists today should cause alarm for any investor that's looking into this company," Quadir said. In 2017, DeVry Education changed its DV ticker symbol to Adtalem's current ATGE, completing the rebranding of DeVry into Adtalem. Quadir's report found that among Adtalem's properties, the online college Walden University has a graduation rate of just 29%. Adtalem's stock price has soared over 75% in just seven months, from just over $33 a share in late June, to more than $60 a share at Monday's open.

Some Democrats want the Education Department to recoup funds from Ashford and University of Phoenix. The department previously accused those schools of fraud, granting thousands of borrowers debt relief. The lawmakers want the schools to pay up so taxpayers don't foot the bill for the relief. The Democrats referenced two recent actions to provide relief for borrowers who went to for-profit schools accused of predatory behavior: $72 million in relief for 2,300 borrowers "cheated" by Ashford University, and $37 million in relief for 1,200 borrowers "deceived" by the University of Phoenix, according to the Education Department. AdvertisementAdvertisement"This would send a strong warning signal to other predatory for-profit colleges that there are substantial financial consequences for defrauding students," the Democrats wrote.

In August, scientists and adventurers found camera gear abandoned by Brad Washburn, an American explorer, in 1937. By tracing the camera's path, scientists could learn how the glacier has changed over eight decades. "They essentially needed help to figure out how the glacier is moving and what's the best way of finding the cache," Medrzycka told Insider. "It was an amazing feeling, and I felt relief that I didn't fail at finding the cache," Medrzycka said, adding, "It was an epic moment for everyone." The team also retrieved two other cameras, including a DeVry "Lunchbox" model, with film still loaded inside.
