☆ Hezbollah leader warns Israel of war with 'no red lines,' threatens Cyprus

The leader of Hezbollah has vowed a fight with "no rules and with no red lines" if full-out war erupts between the Lebanese militant group and Israel, warning Cyprus against getting mired in the conflict. Lebanon and Israel have regularly traded cross-border fire since the start of the Jewish state's war against Palestinian militant group Hamas — which, like Hezbollah, is backed by Iran — in the Gaza Strip. The Hezbollah leader also threatened war against the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, if the European Union member permits Israel to launch military operations from its territory. Nasrallah accused Israel of "conducting maneuvers in preparation for the Lebanon war" in Cyprus, without disclosing his sources. In response to Nasrallah, Cyprus' President Nikos Christodoulides on Wednesday stressed that his country is not involved in the conflict and is, in fact, part of the solution, according to the Cyprus News Agency.

FRANKFURT, April 6 (Reuters) - The European Central Bank will need to raise interest rates again in May if inflation develops along the path seen in the bank's March economic projections, ECB chief economist Philip Lane told the Cyprus News Agency. The ECB has raised rates by a combined 350 basis points since July but did not provide specific guidance for its May 4 meeting, arguing that turbulence in the financial sector required extra caution. "However, we need to be data-dependent about the assessment of whether that baseline still holds true at the time of our May meeting." Largely repeating his stance, Lane argued that the May decision will depend on the inflation outlook, the bank's assessment of underlying price dynamics and on how quickly past rate hikes are impacting the economy. Although bank shares are down by about a tenth over the past month, volatility has receded and underlying inflation, a key worry for policymakers, continues to accelerate, strengthening the case for rate hikes.

Кипр с 10 мая будет открыт для туристов, полностью прошедших вакцинацию против коронавируса. Об этом сообщает агентство Cyprus News Agency со ссылкой на министра туризма Кипра Савваса Пердиоса. В конце марта пресс-служба Минтуризма республики сообщала, что с 1 апреля россиянам с отрицательными результатами ПЦР-теста на коронавирус и не контактировавшим с зараженными не требуется соблюдать карантин по прибытии на Кипр. Также стало известно, что власти Кипра разработали специальную декларацию для туристов, которая позволяет покидать территорию отеля без смс-разрешения, но не более двух раз в день в будни и трех - в выходные. Подобные ограничения и усиление карантинных мер были введены на острове во избежание распространения коронавируса с 26 апреля по 9 мая.
