Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that nearly 40% of the country's trade turnover is now in rubles as the share conducted in dollars, euros and other "non-friendly" Western currencies has fallen away. Putin said payments for Russian exports in "so-called 'toxic' currencies of non-friendly states" had halved over the last year. "With that, the share of the ruble in import and export operations is increasing, now standing at almost 40%," Putin said, according to a translation. The West has sought to cut off Russia's $2 trillion economy in response to Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

When former President Donald J. Trump goes on trial on Monday in Manhattan, President Biden and his allies are not likely to say much. The media coverage will be constant, especially if Mr. Trump takes the stand, which he has floated as a possibility. Mr. Biden and his campaign have said nothing publicly about the criminal indictments against Mr. Trump, worried about improperly influencing the cases or stoking Mr. Trump’s repeated allegations — made without evidence — that Mr. Biden has engineered the charges. Many of the deep-pocketed outside Democratic groups supporting the Biden campaign are charting a similar path. When Mr. Trump goes on trial on Monday, he will be the first U.S. president to face criminal prosecution.

Both cases were filed in federal district courts in which the plaintiffs could literally hand-pick the specific federal judge who would be assigned to hear the dispute. Indeed, the Supreme Court granted emergency relief in both the social media and mifepristone cases. But the Supreme Court is another matter. Yet the moment that history is likely to remember most clearly unfolded in a Manhattan courtroom where Trump sat seething as a judge thwarted his latest delaying tactics and set a date for his hush money trial. Of course, it’s also possible that Trump could be acquitted in this criminal case. It is a mark of the depth of Trump’s legal hole that a reduced requirement to post a bond worth $175 million counts as a big win. CNN —Food delivery platforms DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats are challenging in court New York City’s new minimum wage law for app food delivery workers. All three companies sued the city, maintaining that the law would hurt delivery workers more than help them. In a statement to CNN, DoorDash called the law “bad policy,” though it said it was not opposed to a minimum wage for delivery workers. According to a news release from New York City, food delivery workers currently make $7.09 per hour, on average. There are more than 60,000 food delivery workers working in the city, according to the local government.

Major Food Group, the proprietor of trendy Manhattan restaurants such as Dirty French and the Italian eatery Carbone, is extending its brand into the booming Miami residential real-estate business. The hospitality company, which opened its first restaurant in 2011, is joining two Miami-based developers to build a 58-story luxury condominium tower on the southern Florida waterfront. The project is Major Food Group’s first affiliation with a residential building. It will be known as the Villa and will include Major Food Group restaurants, which the company said will likely be new concepts that draw elements from its existing brands.

Rivian spokeswoman Marina Norville said in a statement the company's relationship with Amazon has and continues to be a positive one. Rivian and Amazon struck a deal in 2019 to hand over 100,000 electric trucks to the e-commerce giant. Amazon began delivering packages with the vehicles in July, and Rivian last month touted 10 million packages delivered via the vans.
