Last fall, Shibuya banned Halloween-related activities in the district, with alcohol cited as a main reason behind the prohibition. Chief spokesperson for the IDF, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said “Their loved ones were killed a few months ago during Hamas captivity in Gaza and their bodies are still being held by Hamas. We assess that the four of them were killed while together in the area of Khan Younis during an operation there against Hamas.”In May, Hamas said Popplewell, an Israeli-British citizen, had died from wounds following a strike by Israeli fighter jets on his place of detention over a month earlier. CNN is not able to independently verify this claim made by Hamas. Berlin CNN —Pavlo Kushnirov was among Ukrainian soldiers fighting in the eastern city of Bakhmut with114th territorial defence brigade on a sunny day last winter when Russian shelling changed his life forever. German officials estimate there are between 30,000 and 50,000 Ukrainian amputees as a result of the conflict. Now a German non-governmental organization is working to bring wounded Ukrainian soldiers to Berlin so they can be fitted with custom-made artificial limbs and given treatment that will allow them to lead as normal a life as possible. Kushnirov and Sayko-Kazakov are among the first of 60 severely wounded Ukrainian soldiers who will receive treatment in Germany, thanks to the Berlin-based NGO “Life Bridge Ukraine.” They hope to start what they see as a new life soon. Battlefield conditions in Ukraine mean limbs must often be amputated quickly to save soldiers’ lives.

New York CNN —The New York Stock Exchange is investigating a technical issue on Monday as Berkshire Hathaway and dozens of other stocks are halted. NYSE said the technical issue is related to a mechanism designed to prevent stock prices from swinging wildly. Dozens of stocks are paused because they traded outside those so-called limit up-limit down bands, according to NYSE’s website. Joe Saluzzi, co-founder of Themis Trading, told CNN that the technical issues don’t appear to be impacting the broader market. However, Barrick Gold (GOLD), a Canadian gold and copper producer, was displayed as trading at just 25 cents — down 98.5% on the day, according to Refinitiv.

Now, the discovery of a complete G. newtoni skull has resolved this longstanding mystery, giving scientists their first face-to-face encounter with the massive mihirung. CNN —German national soccer coach Julian Nagelsmann condemned a “racist” poll which asked participants if the team has enough White players, in a press briefing on Sunday. Nagelsmann said it was madness that the broadcaster asked this question and said he agreed with midfielder Joshua Kimmich who described the poll as racist a day earlier. Another of the questions asked in the ARD survey was whether it’s a “pity that the current captain of the German national team has Turkish roots.” Gundogan is the team’s captain. In April, German soccer authorities said they would redesign the number “4” on the country’s national jerseys amid claims it resembles a logo used by Nazi paramilitary units. Euro 2024 host Germany will kick off the month-long tournament against Scotland at Munich’s Allianz Arena on June 14.

CNN —Katy Perry has reimagined a recent commencement speech by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker that was criticized as homophobic and sexist. The pop star and former “American Idol” judge posted on her social media an edit of Butker’s May 11 address at Benedictine College, a small Catholic college in Kansas. Perry’s version took the NFL player’s actual words and reimagined them to make them more positive and empowering. “Fixed this for my girls, my graduates, and my gays — you can do anything, congratulations and happy pride,” the caption on Perry’s post reads. He later defended his commencement speech at a gala hosted by Regina Caeli Academy – a hybrid campus/homeschool Catholic school group with several locations across the country.

New York CNN —Anchor Brewing, America’s oldest craft brewer, closed last summer after more than 127 years in business. Anchor closed in July 2023 and its former parent company Sapporo USA put it up for sale after facing years of declining sales. Despite Ulukaya’s excitement about reviving the 127-year-old brand, the craft beer business has been in decline as drinkers shift to spirits and cheaper alternatives. “The brand struggled because it kept relevance with longtime, committed craft beer enthusiasts, but rarely registered with young people or casual drinkers,” Roth said. “Focusing on Anchors legacy, stature, and part of American craft beer history could help the brewery form new emotional connections with drinkers.”
