Four teenagers accused of fatally beating a classmate last year in Las Vegas have agreed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter, which will keep them from being tried as adults, attorneys confirmed Thursday. Attorney Robert Draskovich represents one of the four teens charged in the beating. Draskovich said his client agreed to plead guilty in a deal that would crumble if one of the defendants involved changes their plea. Mellisa Ready, Lewis’ mother, told NBC affiliate KMCC of Las Vegas on Thursday that she was “dumbfounded” and "in shock" by the plea agreement. She said that she had heard from the Clark County District Attorney’s office that the teens were going to plead guilty to murder in the adult court system.

Reports circulated in February that Simpson had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and was in hospice care as he underwent chemotherapy. Simpson denied that he was in hospice in a video posted to X, but did not address whether he or not he'd been diagnosed with cancer. When Los Angeles Police officers went to Simpson's home to speak to him about the murders, Simpson did not answer the door but officers noticed blood on the door of his vehicle. LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man who leaped over a judicial bench and attacked a Nevada judge during a sentencing hearing in Las Vegas last month that was captured in a courtroom video that went viral has now been indicted for attempted murder. A grand jury returned the nine-count indictment against Deobra Redden, 30, in Las Vegas on Thursday. Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus was about to deliver Redden’s sentence in an attempted battery case on Jan. 3 when he lunged over the bench at her. A week later Judge Holthus sentenced him to up to four years in prison for the battery charge he had pleaded guilty to in November. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said at the time that Redden’s adult criminal history included convictions for three felonies and nine misdemeanors, mostly involving violent acts.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada jury has awarded about $130 million in damages in a lawsuit filed by five people who suffered liver damage after drinking bottled water marketed by a Las Vegas-based company before the product was recalled from store shelves in 2021. Real Water attorney Joel Odou argued that the company was unintentionally negligent, not reckless, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The Southern Nevada Water Authority, the region's main public supplier, monitors and tests for 166 different possible contaminants, spokesman Bronson Mack said Thursday. Mack noted that the water authority was not a defendant in the lawsuits and said the area's municipal water supply meets or surpasses all federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards. A woman accused Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter of raping her at a concert in Washington State two decades ago, when she was 17, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday. "He also said he’d turn people against me because he’s Nick Carter and he would wreck my life," the woman is quoted as saying in a news release from her lawyer, Mark Boskovich. In a statement, Michael Holtz, an attorney for Carter, called the allegations "legally meritless" and "entirely untrue." Holtz said the woman had been "manipulated into making false allegations about Nick — and those allegations have changed repeatedly and materially over time. Carter raped her a second time on a bed near the back of the tour bus while she begged him to stop, the suit alleges.
