White-collar criminals who can't disconnect are spending thousands of dollars on prison cellphones. Contraband phones go for $1,000 or as little as a few hundred dollars, depending on supply, at minimum-security camps, the so-called Club Feds. The stakes are particularly high for Wilson; his office continues to prosecute a violent, 90-defendant drug ring run by imprisoned people using contraband cellphones. The bureau urges Congress to pass the Lieutenant Osvaldo Albarati Stopping Prison Contraband Act, which would upgrade the charge of smuggling contraband cellphones into a Federal prison from a misdemeanor offense to a felony, Murphy said. White-collar criminals tend to put their contraband phones to more benign uses.

A judge in Georgia's Fulton County struck down the state's six-week abortion ban Monday, allowing the procedure to resume and making it legal up to 22 weeks of pregnancy. The state law, known as the LIFE Act, was signed by Republican Gov. The Georgia Supreme Court, however, soon took up the case and allowed it to remain in effect. The law has no "definition of 'health records.' And no mention of any notice to be provided to the 'woman' whose 'health records' have been made 'available,'" the judge wrote.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsAug 21 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge has blocked the state of Georgia from enforcing a new Republican-backed law that bars doctors from providing hormone replacement therapy to treat gender dysphoria in transgender children under age 18. The ruling marked the latest instance of a federal judge blocking a law banning medical procedures for transgender youth. The judge said that amounts to a form of unconstitutional sex discrimination because a minor's sex at birth determines whether that child can receive a given form of medical treatment. The state argued that banning hormone therapy was justified by the risk that an individual may later in life regret the physical changes brought on by hormone replacement therapy. By contrast, research showed mental health benefits from allowing the treatment of gender dysphoria, the judge said.

New York CNN —Domino’s is still suffering declines in its delivery business. But Domino’s (DPZ) still doesn’t want to use outside delivery drivers. Nathan Papes/Springfield News-Leader/USA Today Network/ImagnWeiner said that Domino’s is getting more applications for delivery drivers now than it did in 2019, an encouraging sign. In addition to the electric vehicles, Domino’s has more than 1,000 non-EV cars in its fleet, Weiner said on Monday. By using its own drivers, Domino’s has more control over the delivery experience.

Nov 23 (Reuters) - Georgia can enforce a law banning abortion after six weeks of pregnancy while the state appeals a lower court order striking it down, the state's highest court ruled on Wednesday. The Supreme Court of Georgia did not give a reason for its unanimous order. The state law, which originally took effect this past summer, has been challenged by Planned Parenthood and other abortion rights groups. Georgia passed a law banning abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, usually around six weeks, in 2019. He said the state legislature could pass a new law banning abortion now that Roe is overturned.
