After a big week for stocks related to artificial intelligence, CNBC's Jim Cramer told investors it may be time to ring the register for many of these companies that have seen massive gains. "Remember, this remarkable, albeit limited, narrow, year — you don't want to spoil it by refusing to ring the register on every one of your stocks that may be AI." Cramer reviewed the significant surges in the AI sector this week, starting with Apple's record-breaking run after the company announced new AI programming that could boost iPhone sales. "We know we've been feeling a little greedy, and it's quite unbecoming — when you have big gains, you need to take something off the table," Cramer said. "I am still a true believer in Nvidia, but I don't want to be oblivious to the scale of this massive run."

We view Broadcom as one of the biggest AI beneficiaries through its networking and custom chip businesses. And it's a good thing that Broadcom wants to make its stock more accessible to investors and employees. Broadcom said the spending run rate at VMware was $1.6 billion in the quarter, down from $2.3 billion per quarter pre-acquisition. Outlook Following the strong first half of its fiscal year 2024, Broadcom raised both its revenue and adjusted EBITDA outlook. Generative AI Neural networks are the heart of the increasingly popular type of AI known as generative artificial intelligence , or gen AI for short. Both traditional AI and gen AI systems rely on data and can be used to automate decision-making tasks. Microsoft's AI virtual assistant Copilot — which went live in November — is perhaps the most prominent generative AI feature among our portfolio companies. Bias Bias is another downside to AI systems — and LLMs in particular — that users need to consider. While GPUs have the upper hand in AI training, CPUs are understood to perform AI inference well.

Some retail and professional investors seemed to interpret the news as a sign that it's "game over" for some of the other AI chipmakers, Forrest said. Forrest, who's on the hunt for growth at a reasonable price, points to companies like Advanced Micro Devices, Micron Technology . The proposed deal has highlighted chipmaker Broadcom's aim to diversify into enterprise software, but comes as regulators worldwide ramp up scrutiny of deals by Big Tech. Broadcom welcomed the unconditional approval, saying it expects to close the deal in the current fiscal year. BRUSSELS, July 12 (Reuters) - U.S. chipmaker Broadcom (AVGO.O) secured EU antitrust approval on Wednesday for its $61 billion proposed acquisition of cloud computing firm VMware (VMW.N) after offering remedies to help rival Marvell Technology (MRVL.O). The deal, Broadcom's largest ever, will help the chipmaker diversify into enterprise software. Broadcom offered Marvell and other rivals interoperability commitments related to its Fibre Channel Host-Bus Adapters (FC HBAs), a kind of storage adapters, the European Commission said, confirming a Reuters story last month. Marvell and other rivals will also have guaranteed access to the source code for all of Broadcom's current and future FC HBA drivers through an irrevocable open source license. "The commitments offered by Broadcom will enable its only rival Marvell, to continue competing on equal footing and ensure a similar protection for any future entrants," EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager said in a statement.

MADRID, July 7 (Reuters) - U.S. chipmaker Broadcom (AVGO.O) will invest in a European Union-funded programme to develop a semiconductor industry in Spain, Chief Executive Charlie Kawwas said late on Thursday. "Excited to announce our decision to invest in Spain's semiconductor ecosystem under their semiconductor support program," Kawwas said on his Twitter account. The project in which Broadcom would be involved could be worth $1 billion, the Spanish economy ministry said in an emailed statement. Broadcom did not say how much it would invest. Prior to Broadcom, the Spanish government had said U.S. tech giant Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO.O) was planning to open a new chip design centre in the northeastern Spanish city of Barcelona.
