"There are no injuries, there is no risk of pollution", a coast guard official told Reuters on condition of anonymity, adding that the ships were not loaded with cargo. Greek authorities have deployed seven vessels and a search and rescue helicopter to the site. Tribunalul din Chios i-a găsit pe cei patru afgani vinovaţi pentru incendiere voluntară, au anunţat avocaţii acestora, care vor înainta imediat recurs împotriva hotărârii instanţei. Într-un proces distinct, alţi doi refugiaţi afgani, minori la momentul faptei, au fost condamnaţi în luna martie de un tribunal din Lesbos la cinci ani de închisoare pentru participarea la acele acţiuni de incendiere. Procesul s-a bazat în mare parte pe mărturia unui alt refugiat afgan, care acum nu mai este de găsit şi prin urmare nu a fost prezent la proces. Violenţele între grupuri rivale de migranţi erau frecvente în tabăra de la Moria, unde în martie 2020 circa 20.000 de migranţi erau înghesuiţi în condiţii de igienă deplorabile şi izolaţi din cauza pandemiei.
