A video of a red-coloured lake in Chile has been falsely claimed online to show the River Nile, with some users suggesting it's a sign of “the end times”.
“You mean to tell me on November 9, 2023, the Nile river looks like this,” said one person who added a voiceover to the clip and shared it to social media (archived).
However, the video shows a lake in Chile that is famed for its red colour, not the River Nile.
Reuters found no reports or corroborating visuals of the River Nile, which stretches across northeastern Africa, turning red on Nov. 9.
The video show Laguna Roja in Chile, not the River Nile.
