Some of the proposals squarely take aim at the country's private equity sector, which, despite Britain's exit from the European Union, has maintained its stature as the regional hub for deal-making.
"Private equity is the only industry where performance-related pay is treated as capital gains," the manifesto says.
In practice, that would mean taxing carried interest, or the profits paid to private equity and hedge fund managers, as income.
Labour's ascent comes at a precarious time for the private equity sector more broadly.
"London has been the pulpit for financial services, private equity and investors in Europe for a long time," said Mark Veldon, a private equity partner at financial advisory and global consulting firm AlixPartners.
