Now, new evidence from a skull more than 4,000 years old has revealed that ancient Egyptian physicians may have tried to treat certain cancers with surgery. “We can see that ancient Egyptian medicine was not solely based on herbal remedies like medicine in other ancient civilizations,” said Badr, who was not involved in the new research. “There is an urgent need to reevaluate the history of Egyptian medicine using these scientific methodologies,” Badr said. The earliest recorded observation of cancer is in an ancient Egyptian medical text known as the Edwin Smith Surgical Papyrus, which dates back to around 3000 BC to 2500 BC. But there was none for the breast cancer patient’s tumors, Camarós said.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen speaks during a climate finance roundtable discussion at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, Saturday, July 8, 2023. "Fitch's decision is puzzling in light of the economic strength we see in the United States," Yellen said. "I strongly disagree with Fitch's decision, and I believe it is entirely unwarranted." Fitch had cited a deterioration in U.S. governance that started during the prior Trump administration in making its decision, according to U.S. Treasury officials. REUTERS/Valentyn OgirenkoLONDON, July 17 (Reuters) - The Ukraine war shows that the West's dominance is coming to an end as China rises to superpower status in partnership with Russia at one of the most significant inflection points in centuries, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said. The world, Blair said, was at a turning point in history comparable with the end of World War Two or the collapse of the Soviet Union: but this time the West is clearly not in the ascendant. according to a text of the speech to a forum supporting the alliance between the United States and Europe at Ditchley Park west of London. The war in Ukraine, Blair said, had clarified that the West could not rely on China "to behave in the way we would consider rational". The United States and its allies "should be superior enough to cater for any eventuality or type of conflict and in all areas."
