Meghan attended and spoke at the South by Southwest festival in Austin on Friday, the day before she and Harry made a stop in Uvalde to check in on the family, Martinez said. CHICAGO (AP) — The cause of death for a 5-year-old Venezuelan boy who died in December after becoming ill at a temporary shelter for migrants in Chicago was sepsis and a bacterial infection that causes strep throat, an autopsy released Friday shows. Jean Carlos Martinez died Dec. 17 as a result of sepsis due to streptococcus pyogenes group A infection, which can cause strep throat and other life-threatening illnesses, the autopsy released by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office showed. Contributing factors in his death were listed as COVID-19, adenovirus and rhinovirus, the autopsy showed. The boy was a resident at a warehouse retrofitted as a shelter in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood when he suffered a medical emergency, the city has said. Earlier this month, hundreds of asylum-seekers still awaited placement at airports and police stations in Chicago, some of them still camped on sidewalks outside precinct buildings.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man already charged with murder has been indicted for the killing of a Lyft driver whose car he allegedly stole in an attempt to escape, authorities announced Wednesday. An Okeechobee County grand jury this week indicted Mathew Flores with first-degree murder and armed robbery for the Jan. 30 slaying of 74-year-old Gary Levin. Flores is being held without bail on both murder charges. Levin's body was found five days after his slaying by investigators who retraced his ride with Flores, Lawson said. Lawson said that because Flores was in custody for the Martinez slaying, there was no need to bring charges quickly in the Levin case.
