CNN —The Dallas Cowboys got a much-needed victory on Thursday Night Football as they edged past the New York Giants 20-15 at MetLife Stadium. The narrow win continues the Cowboys’ domination over their division rivals. Afterwards, Dallas’ franchise QB spoke of how important the victory was for ‘America’s Team.’“It was huge, absolutely,” Prescott told reporters. Aubrey converted two fourth-quarter field goals to help seal the victory against the New York Giants. In the end, Amani Oruwariye intercepted Giants quarterback Daniel Jones with just seconds remaining to seal the victory for Dallas as they improved to 2-2 on the season; New York, meanwhile, falls to 1-3.

The Saints, one week after blowing out the lowly Carolina Panthers, did the same in Dallas to the high-flying Cowboys. CLEVELAND — Deshaun Watson has been accused of sexual assault in a new civil lawsuit brought by a woman who alleges the Cleveland Browns quarterback forced himself on her four years ago when he played with Houston. According to the lawsuit filed Monday in Harris County, the woman is suing Watson for $1 million in damages. The woman, identified only as Jane Doe in the court documents, said the incident took place after she invited Watson to her apartment. The 28-year-old Watson served an 11-game NFL suspension in 2022 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, stemming from those accusations. Watson has been limited to just 13 starts due to the suspension and a shoulder injury that required surgery last season.

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract that will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to multiple reports. The long, drawn-out negotiation ended with him earning the biggest contract in league history, valued at $60 million a season. Last season, Prescott set career highs in completions (410) and touchdowns (36), throwing for 4,516 yards with only nine interceptions. He led Dallas to a 12-5 record, but the Cowboys lost at home in the first round of the playoffs to the Green Bay Packers. Prescott is the Cowboys second key offensive player to sign a new contract after extended negotiations this offseason, joining his top receiver, CeeDee Lamb.

The bulk of a team's revenue in a given season comes from the ballooning media rights fees that the NFL charges for its games. Contrast that with leagues like the NBA and NHL, where clubs receive a much bigger cut of playoff ticket revenue. Stadium ownership and operating rights are also a lucrative source of revenue for NFL teams. Perennial playoff teams can also be more attractive to sponsors because they can almost guarantee that thousands of additional people will be in their stadiums every year.
