Inside Hollywood’s new effort to curb gun deaths

Hondo heads to the bedroom closet, removes his semi-automatic service weapon, and safely locks it away in his gun safe. “I’m big badass Hondo, and I get out there and take down bad guys,” actor Shemar Moore, who plays Hondo, told CNN. ‘A uniquely American epidemic’“We lose eight kids a day in this country — a uniquely American epidemic — to family fire,” Kris Brown, president of Brady United, told CNN. While gun policies can be politically polarizing, Dettmann said encouraging the safe storage of firearms shouldn’t be controversial at all. While the production team at “S.W.A.T.” has purposefully incorporated safe gun storage into their scripts, they haven’t stopped there.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Richard Roundtree, the trailblazing actor who starred as the ultra-smooth private detective in several “Shaft” films beginning in the early 1970s, has died. Roundtree’s “Shaft” was part of a change in how Black movies were viewed in Hollywood, which failed to consider Black actors – especially for leading roles — in projects at the time. Isaac Hayes’ “Shaft” theme song — which included the line “You a bad mother— (Shut your mouth)” — helped insinuate the original movie into the pop-cult consciousness. After the film’s success, Roundtree returned in sequels “Shaft’s Big Score” in 1972 and “Shaft in Africa” in 1973. Roundtree reprised his role in the 2000 “Shaft” film, a revival that starred Samuel L. Jackson.

Kemp said it was "humbling" that his name has been floated as a GOP presidential candidate. Kemp in a recent interview with CBS-affiliate WRBL said that his priority was leading Georgia. "It's humbling that there are people out there that think I would make a good president. However, Kemp left some wiggle room in his comments, even as he previously said he wouldn't seek the White House in 2024. And I just think a Republican president will get the ox out of the ditch, if you will.

The Wimmers are proud of helping Mike ensure his "social skills were in line with his intellectual skills," Mark says. March 3 (Reuters) - Actor Tom Sizemore, known as much for his struggles with drug addiction and run-ins with the law as for his tough-guy roles in such films as "Saving Private Ryan" and "Black Hawk Down," died on Friday at age 61, said his manager, Charles Lago. Sizemore's first major leading role came in the 1997 horror thriller "The Relic," again playing a police detective. On television, Sizemore won plaudits for his starring role as a police detective in the short-lived CBS television drama "Robbery Homicide Division." He was arrested again on suspicion of domestic abuse in 2016 and the following year pleaded no contest, the legal equivalent of guilty in California, and was sentenced to three year's probation. Sizemore chronicled his turbulent life in the 2013 memoir, "By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There."
His latest album "Un Verano Sin Ti" has earned two 2023 Grammy Award nominations, including a historic first in the Album of the Year category — the first Spanish-language album to ever receive such recognition. His latest album marks the artist's sixth project in four years. "Un Verano Sin Ti" was released on May 6. Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has previously won two Grammy awards and been nominated for six. The nomination also makes him the first-ever artist to receive Album of the Year nominations at both the Grammys and the Latin Grammys.

The world should mourn the loss of Angela Lansbury, a gifted actress who died this week at 96 after a career of more than seven decades. Angela Lansbury stars as mystery writer and crime solver Jessica Fletcher on the CBS television series "Murder, She Wrote" in 1990. “Murder, She Wrote,” however, featured not only a woman, but an older one at that. I remember well Lansbury’s character, with her constant bike riding and quick mind. While I’m sorry that Lansbury is no longer with us, I’m glad that the era of “Murder, She Wrote” has passed.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Angela Lansbury," according to statement by Actors' Equity, the union representing live stage performers.
