This woman sculpts celebrity busts – from sushi

London CNN —When Ed Sheeran wrote “Shape of You,” he probably didn’t have this vision of himself sculpted from sushi ingredients in mind. The British megastar is just one of several celebrities whose image has been recreated using ingredients like rice, salmon and pickled ginger by British food artist Michelle Wibowo. Wibowo puts the finishing touches to Sheeran, whose pun-y likeness is pictured alongside "Eelton" John and British TV host Alison "Salmond" Hammond. The unusual creations were on display at the CasildArt Gallery in London as part of a collaboration with Japanese food brand Yutaka to mark International Sushi Day on Tuesday. “I’m used to creating sculptures from unconventional materials, but working with sushi ingredients was a whole other kettle of fish!” Wibowo said in a press release sent to CNN by the organizers.

Opinion: European soccer’s latest racism row

CNN —On Sunday, England will face Serbia in its first game of the Euro 2024 championship, hosted by Germany. Since then, the FA, the European football association UEFA and FIFA , the sport’s international governing body, have visibly upped their anti-racism game. One might conclude, for instance, that Monday’s court decision in Spain meting out prison sentences to three Valencia fans for hurling racial insults, is evidence of European soccer’s new, tougher line against racism. Saka knows UEFA observers will be on duty at every Euro 2024 match and will be on the lookout for racist incidents. I see it as an attempt by professionals who should know better to make a Black player carry the can for a disappointing performance by the whole team.

Another day at Euro 2024, another trio of goalscoring games — even if the entertainment factor dipped off at points. The Netherlands overcame Poland with a 2-1 win, Denmark were held to a 1-1 draw by Slovenia, while England beat Serbia 1-0. But the goals, a lack of shots in one game and the results don’t tell the whole story of the day. The feel-good moment of the daySunday marked 1,100 days since Christian Eriksen collapsed at Copenhagen’s Parken stadium during a Euro 2020 game against Finland after suffering a cardiac arrest. CNN —England are off to a winning start in their Euro 2024 campaign, after defeating Serbia 1-0 in the Group C clash at Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for the Three Lions, rushing into the box and heading in a deflected Bukayo Saka cross for the goal in the 13th minute. According to UEFA, since a 2-1 defeat to France at EURO 2004, the Three Lions are unbeaten in eight matches in the competition after leading at halftime, winning six matches and drawing two. England moves atop Group C with the victory, and an earlier 1-1 draw by Denmark and Slovenia. England will next play against Denmark on Thursday, while Serbia will face Slovenia on the same day.

CNN —Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is one of the most prominent players left out of England’s provisional squad for the upcoming European Championships. On Tuesday, England manager Gareth Southgate announced a 33-man squad which will be whittled down to 26 players for the continental tournament beginning on June 14 in Germany. Rashford, 26, has featured in 60 England games, scoring 17 goals. However, he has struggled for form at club level this season, scoring just eight goals in 42 appearances for United. With Marcus I just feel other players in that area of the pitch have had better seasons,” Southgate told reporters.

CNN —Some Arsenal fans might have been forgiven for waking up in a cold sweat in the nights leading up to Tuesday’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old became the fastest player to score 20 Bundesliga goals, reaching the landmark in just 14 matches, well ahead of Uwe Seeler’s previous record of 21. He also has four hat-tricks to his name, something no player had previously achieved in their first Bundesliga season. Arsenal fans thought Kane should have been shown a red card in the second half. With Bayern fans banned from the match due as punishment for throwing flares onto the pitch during their side’s win against Lazio in the previous round, you could hear a pin drop inside the Emirates.

Emirates Stadium, London CNN —Arsenal rescued a draw in the first leg of its Champions League quarterfinal against Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, on a night which saw a heightened security presence at matches across Europe. Leandro Trossard celebrates after scoring the equalizer against Bayern Munich. The striker celebrated the goal with his trademark celebration in front of the Arsenal fans. With almost the last attack of the game, Saka went down in the box after colliding with Neuer. Speaking to reporters after the game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said he hadn’t seen the incident and was not keen to dwell on what could have been.

CNN —As he led the team out inside of a raucous Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard had the weight of expectation on his shoulders. Because Ødegaard looks to have finally found his home at Arsenal. On a magical night for Arsenal fans, Ødegaard produced another sensational performance, proving once again to be the creative spark for Mikel Arteta’s team. Emirates Stadium, London CNN —If Arsenal fans had forgotten just how tense and grueling the Champions League knockout stages can be, their memories will now certainly be refreshed after a thrilling 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Porto in the round of 16. On a raucous night, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said this was probably the best atmosphere he’d experienced at the Emirates Stadium since taking over as manager in 2019. It was a reminder of the threat this Porto team possessed – if Arsenal still needed one after Galeno’s late, long-range sucker punch in the first leg. That strike propelled Arsenal forward in the second half, though Porto looked increasingly content with sitting back and absorbing the pressure. After a riveting 90 minutes, extra time was largely a non-event, with the highlight coming when Kai Havertz pushed Porto manager Sergio Conceição to spark a tussle on the touchline.

CNN —Arsenal underlined its place in this year’s English Premier League title race with a statement 4-1 win against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. But when the chips were down, Arsenal’s players stepped up to produce one of the best performances from any team in the league this year. “We are all living the dream, we have all been dreaming of being here on the biggest stage in the best league in the world,” Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard told TNT Sports after the match. Many fans are therefore rightly cautious about their team’s chances of winning a league title for the first time since 2004, but things do look slightly different this season. “We want the best club in the world, and to be the best club in the world we have to have the best stadium and best atmosphere in the world, that’s for sure,” Arteta said.

A record win for Arsenal. After Arsenal hammered West Ham 6-0 for its biggest ever Premier League away victory, United beat Aston Villa 2-1 in a huge result in the race for Champions League qualification. Bukayo Saka scored twice and Declan Rice — a former West Ham favorite — added the sixth goal almost apologetically. Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring for United and has now netted in five straight league matches. Signed in July for 105 million pounds (then $138 million), it is looking like money well spent by Arsenal.

CNN —Arsenal kept its title hopes alive with a vital 3-1 win against Liverpool in the English Premier League on Sunday. It was a goal that helped settle any nerves Arsenal had before the game and Arteta’s side began dominating the first half. Wild celebrationsThe Emirates erupted as Trossard’s shot squirmed into the net, with Arteta leading the party from the touchline. Arsenal, though, won’t mind the criticism given the team is now back in the hunt for its first league title since 2004. LONDON, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling was again left out by England manager Gareth Southgate as he named his squad for the forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia. Sterling, who has earned 82 caps for his country and was once a key part of Southgate's forward line, has now missed five successive England squads. Despite Southgate saying the door remains open, time is clearly running out for Sterling to force his way back into the reckoning for the Euro 2024 finals. Manchester City's John Stones misses out because of injury while Chelsea's Reece James is also not included despite recently returning from a lengthy injury lay-off. LONDON, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Arsenal returned to winning ways with a routine 2-0 defeat of Sevilla to take a big step towards qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds on Wednesday. Europa League champions Sevilla were desperately disappointing and managed only one shot on target, with the last kick of the game, as their last-16 hopes receded. Lens and PSV have five points while winless Sevilla are bottom with two points. Gabriel Martinelli's late goal handed Arsenal a 1-0 win over defending champion Manchester City on Sunday, ending a 12-game losing streak in the league against Pep Guardiola's team in the process. City pipped Arsenal to the title by five points last term, in part by beating the Gunners 3-1 away and 4-1 at home. In fact, Arsenal had not taken a point against City in the league since 2017, its longest losing streak against a single opponent in club history. Oct 4 (Reuters) - Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said he is worried about Bukayo Saka's availability for Sunday's league game against Manchester City after the forward went off injured in the first half of their 2-1 Champions League defeat by RC Lens. The 22-year-old also limped off the pitch in Arsenal's 4-0 league win at Bournemouth - which was his 87th consecutive Premier League appearance. Arteta has been criticised for not resting Saka often enough but the Spanish manager said all the players had been keen to play against Lens. "It was a big Champions League night," he added.
