The Harris campaign, exuding confidence after Harris baited Trump on stage Tuesday night, immediately said she would agree to a second debate with the ex-president. “When you win the debate, I don’t, I don’t know that I want to do another debate,” Trump said in a phone interview Wednesday morning on Fox News. Speaking with the hosts of “Fox & Friends,” Trump insulted Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, the two anchors that Fox has pitched as potential debate moderators in October. The Harris campaign, however, wants the vice presidential debate between Tim Walz and JD Vance to happen next. Trump on Wednesday also assailed ABC after the debate moderators fact-checked the former president in real-time during the prime time Philadelphia matchup.

Former President Donald J. Trump said late Friday that he agreed with Fox News to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on Sept. 4. It was unclear early Saturday whether Ms. Harris had agreed to the debate and its terms. Mr. Trump said that the Fox News debate would have a live audience; the previous debate between President Biden and Mr. Trump was hosted by CNN in an empty venue. Though both campaigns agreed to the format of the first debate, Mr. Trump had bemoaned the lack of a crowd.

New York CNN —Fox News has proposed a presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris on September 17. It’s not clear if that debate will still take place now that Biden has dropped out of the race. Trump has also expressed displeasure at ABC and has previously posted that he wants Fox News to host the debate instead of the Disney-owned network. In a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, Trump said he “absolutely” wants to debate Harris, and “would be willing to do more than one debate, actually.”“I haven’t agreed to anything. I think debating’s important for a presidential race, I really do, you sort of have an obligation to debate.”

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. President Donald Trump. Fox News has invited Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump to debate each other in Pennsylvania on Sept. 17, according to copies of the letters obtained by CNBC. The invitation comes a day after Trump said he would be willing to debate Harris, the newly minted de facto Democratic nominee, multiple times on a call with reporters. The Harris and Trump campaigns did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment on whether they would accept the invite. The debate would serve as a redemption opportunity for Democrats, following President Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance in June.

Read previewWestern-provided F-16 fighter jets are on their way to Ukraine and set to start flying missions later this summer. But they may not yet be enough to make a difference on the battlefield, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated in a discussion this week on what Ukraine needs, comparing the jets to the US-made Abrams tanks that Ukraine got last fall. "The problem with F-16," the Ukrainian president said, "is the number and the dates." The US sent only 31 M1A1 Abrams in total, and they were delivered to Ukraine months after British and German tanks. For comparison, Ukraine received about 300 US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, nearly ten times more than the number of Abrams sent.

Bret Baier. Those were among the dozens of names — celebrities, politicians, media personalities, relatives and more — that emerged at Donald J. Trump’s trial, when prosecutors displayed a list of the former president’s “close contacts” prepared by his former gatekeeper. Included on the list were people whom Mr. Trump spoke to often or might have wanted to speak to around the time he took office following the 2016 election, a former White House staffer testified. The list offered a clear look at the kind of celebrity-filled orbit Mr. Trump was interested in maintaining, one comprising people Mr. Trump had in many cases known for decades, some of whom looked at him differently after the election. It was not clear how often any of the particular contacts were in touch with Mr. Trump, whose longtime assistant prepared the partial list and sent it to the White House gatekeeper, Madeleine Westerhout, after he became president in 2017.

But there's one fairly important person who didn't bother tuning into the interview at all: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In an interview with Fox News's Bret Baier that aired on Thursday, Zelenskyy told the news anchor that he didn't watch the interview conducted by the former Fox News host, in which Putin often rambled on with a revisionist version of Russian history. Zelenskyy said he got some of the main points of the episode from the media and his advisors. This story is available exclusively to Business Insider subscribers.

So … how did you like the big Donald Trump interview on Fox News? No insights into current affairs more thrilling than a few vague references to Hunter Biden. It’s amazing that Fox News let its guest get through an hourlong interview without prodding him about the Jan. 6 riot. There, the defense claims that Trump couldn’t be charged with any crimes since he was the president at the time. Really — the argument is that you can’t prosecute a guy for trying to overturn the government while he’s in the government.

Bob Vander Plaats, an influential Iowa evangelical leader, endorsed Ron DeSantis for president Tuesday, boosting the Florida governor as he goes all in on the leadoff caucus state in an effort to trip up Republican front-runner Donald Trump. Vander Plaats is the second major backer DeSantis has picked up in Iowa this month, joining popular Gov. “I think America would be well served to have a choice, and I really believe Ron DeSantis should be that guy,” he said. Vander Plaats, who is prominent in the anti-abortion movement, has questioned the former president's commitment to an abortion ban. “They (the Americans) don’t want to see Saudi Arabia shifting their armament from America to another place,” Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) told Fox News’ Bret Baier in an interview last month. Gulf states have over the past few years faced attacks they have blamed on Iran and its proxies, and have found the US’ response to them inadequate. Among the Gulf states, Bahrain, which hosts the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, was the first to be declared a MNNA in 2002. It is however unclear if the US would commit to a treaty that would require it to come to the Gulf states’ defense in case of attack. The president can offer some concessions without Senate ratification, he said, but that won’t meet Gulf states’ requirements.
