REUTERS/Mike Blake/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsFRANKFURT, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) on Thursday said that a major IT outage, which had caused most of its German plants to halt production, was resolved overnight and its global production network was up and running again. "The IT infrastructure problems in the Volkswagen network were resolved during the course of the night and the network is stable again," Volkswagen said, without providing details on the impact or cause of the incident. The global production network is up and running, and production is expected to proceed as planned," it said, adding individual systems may still be affected during a transitional phase. "We need safety systems here that work," Wissing told broadcaster RTL/n-tv.

BERLIN, June 1 (Reuters) - German prosecutors said on Thursday they had secured some items during a search of a reservoir in Portugal in the 16-year-old hunt for missing British girl Madeleine McCann which they would evaluate in coming days and weeks. "Whether some of the items actually relate to the Madeleine McCann case cannot yet be confirmed," the prosecutor's statement read. German prosecutors last year named Christian Brueckner an official suspect in McCann's disappearance. "The investigations here in Braunschweig against the 46-year old suspect will likely last a long time still," German prosecutors said. BRAUNSCHWEIG, Germany, Jan 10 (Reuters) - A case led by Greenpeace against Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) demanding that the automaker tighten its carbon reduction targets is admissible but unlikely to succeed, a German district court said on Tuesday, with a further hearing scheduled for Jan 31. However, the Braunschweig court said it was not clear whether the German ruling was applicable in a case between private entities. The peculiarity here is that this is a case of a private individual against a privately acting company... the lawsuit is unlikely to succeed," said Bastian Willers, spokesperson for the Braunschweig court. The NGO has appealed the ruling, which Greenpeace lawyer Roda Verheyen said her clients will also do if the court dismisses their case later this month. Another case by DUH against BMW in Munich is ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for February 7.
German-style Christmas markets crop up all over the world this time of year. For me, a visit to a Christmas market is an essential part of the festive season. Whether with family, friends, or colleagues, a Christmas market and a few glasses of mulled wine always hit the spot. I visited the "Weihnachten an der Spree," or Christmas on the Spree, all-inclusive Christmas market in Berlin, Germany, to see if it was worth it. So if, like me, you like to stroll through Christmas markets and look at stalls full of handcrafted objects, decorations, and other knickknacks, you'll be disappointed.

Dec 8 (Reuters) - Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) expects a difficult 2023 for its financial services unit on the back of economic downturn, higher energy prices and rising interest rates. "We see that people are more cautious due to recession expectations, and we are not selling so many cars," said Frank Fiedler, chief financial officer of Volkswagen Financial Services, in Braunschweig on Wednesday evening. The financial unit is still benefiting from high prices for used cars and lower costs for credit and residual value risks in the current year. Operating profit should be in a range of between 5 billion and 5.5 billion euros, Fiedler said. That compares with a previous forecast of about 5 billion euros, and operating profit of 5.7 billion euros in 2021.
BERLIN, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Six Volkswagen investors filed a case against the carmaker this week for refusing to discuss at its annual general meeting (AGM) whether its lobbying activities could threaten their investments, the investors said. This exposes the company, and their investments - representing around 0.1% of Volkswagen shares - to operational and reputational damage, they argued in a statement. "We share the view that aspects relevant to climate protection deserve even higher priority in reporting and are currently considering various approaches," the spokesperson added. "It is worrying that our shareholder right to contribute to the annual meeting agenda has been refused.
