While missing a host of brands, this year's edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show debuted a range of new models. But at least one automaker says it is ramping up its North American EV strategy in 2024: Honda Motor Company. Honda's EV moves come against the backdrop of EV pullbacks from other major auto manufacturers; and in some cases, shelved EV plans altogether. GM itself is playing a key role in the first mass-market EV Honda is introducing, the Prologue. The All-Electric Acura ZDX is displayed during the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center on November 24, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.

Costco will likely raise its membership fee in the next six to 12 months, Wall Street analysts say. Costco executives have said a fee increase is "a question of when, not if." That's according to Cowen analysts led by Oliver Chen, who wrote in a note published Monday that a Costco membership fee raise "could be likely within 6-12 months." "We believe a membership fee increase is imminent in FY23 as Costco has not raised fees in 5.8 years yet has historically increased fees by $5 for regular memberships every 5.5 years," the analysts wrote. Costco's current membership price puts it in line with other warehouse clubs:
CNN —Honda and South Korean battery maker LG Energy Solutions are investing $3.5 billion to build a joint venture battery factory in southern Ohio, the car company said Tuesday. Construction on the battery plant is expected to begin early next year and should be completed by the end of 2024. At the Marysville plant, battery cells from the Fayette County battery factory will be installed in the battery cases made in Anna. The Marysville factory opened in 1982 and was Honda’s first auto factory in the United States. Honda now has 18 factories producing Honda and Acura vehicles in the United States.
Christine Quinn, from Netflix's "Selling Sunset," shops at low-cost stores for everyday clothes. Quinn told the WSJ she bought leggings from Costco, crop tops from Uniqlo, and tank tops from Hanes. "I do like Costco," Quinn told the Journal. The realtor said she owns black leggings from American retailer Costco, crop tops from Japanese retailer Uniqlo, and men's tank tops from Hanes. Quinn told the Journal that Uniqlo offers comfortable clothes that "don't break the bank."
Some Christmas trees sold at Costco this year are trees from last year that came in after Christmas. The trees were delivered late because of supply chain issues, and Costco has kept them all year. In the company's latest earnings call, Costco CFO Richard Galanti said Christmas trees are part of the company's "deep freeze" inventory from last year. The Christmas trees at Costco range in cost from $150 to $400, according to Galanti. Galanti said keeping the Christmas trees to sell this year didn't "hurt" the company in any way except that it doesn't "like to have extra inventory."
Costco said it has no plans to raise the price of its membership or its $1.50 hot dog combo at this time. Costco exec Bob Nelson warned that membership fee hikes could come in the near future, though. Costco recently raised prices on some goods, but Nelson said the company wants to be "the best value in the marketplace." On the company's quarterly call, Costco executive Bob Nelson said the retailer has no plans to raise its membership dues at this time. He also attempted to put to bed rumors that Costco was raising the price of its famous food court staple.
