The new ranking doesn't surprise LaShawn Davis, a leadership and workplace culture expert who founded and runs consulting firm The HR Plug. Davis has worked in human resources for more than a decade, and says it's clear why In-N-Out Burger rivals those tech companies when it comes to leadership and culture. "It starts with the CEO," Davis tells CNBC Make It. In-N-Out's CEO is Linsi Snyder, 42, who took over her family's business at age 27 after a series of family deaths.

Storms have walloped the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, Plains, South and Northeast with low temperatures, heavy snow, ice storms, freezing rain and high winds for the past two weeks. Tina Kotek on Thursday declared a statewide emergency following deadly ice storms. Trees and power lines already coated with ice could topple if they get more, the National Weather Service warned. “Stay safe out there over the next several days as our region tries to thaw out,” the weather service said. The National Weather Service said there could be a thaw next week, when the forecast calls for above-average temperatures across almost the whole country.

Bob McGrath, an actor and recording artist who became a generational icon as one of the original human stars of “Sesame Street,” died Sunday. McGrath’s death was confirmed by his family members through a post on his Facebook page: “The McGrath family has some sad news to share. He played the friendly neighbor Bob Johnson, a “Sesame Street” mainstay across five decades and 47 seasons of broadcast television. In 1969, McGrath stepped into his signature role on “Sesame Street,” which was a pop culture force from its debut on the then-fledging PBS network in November 1969. McGrath was indelibly associated with “Sesame Street” for the rest of his career.

Our father Bob McGrath, passed away today. The Sesame Workshop paid tribute to McGrath’s nearly five decades on the show in a thread on Twitter. “A founding cast member, Bob embodied the melodies of Sesame Street like no one else, and his performances brought joy and wonder to generations of children around the world,” the statement read in part. “Sesame Street” cast member Alan Muraoka paid tribute to his “role model.”“Words cannot begin to express what Bob meant to me: a role model, a mentor, a friend.

US-based fabs, or chip manufacturing plants, currently only account for 12% of the world’s modern semiconductor manufacturing capacity, according to data from the Semiconductor Industry Association trade group. Some 75% of the world’s modern chip manufacturing is now concentrated in East Asia – a majority of that in geopolitically-vulnerable Taiwan. Now, simply having the facilities already set up to produce or expand chip manufacturing gives Asia a big advantage. This is not yet the case in places like Arizona and Ohio, where plans to build massive chip manufacturing plants are already underway. If not, even the billions of dollars committed by the private and public sector may not be enough to reshore semiconductor manufacturing.
