CNN —India’s T20 World Cup-winning cricket team will finally be able to fly home Tuesday after being stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, a powerful storm churning through the Caribbean. CNN has reached out to India’s Board of Control for Cricket for comment. The hurricane made landfall on Grenada’s Carriacou Island in the Caribbean Sea on Monday morning, causing extreme damage and one confirmed death. As of early Tuesday, Hurricane Beryl had winds of 165 miles (265 kilometers) per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). India’s T20 World Cup victory – its first since winning the inaugural 2007 edition – sparked emotional celebrations after a year of heartbreak for many of its players, who lost to Australia in the finals of both the ODI Cricket World Cup and World Test Championship.

Nov 3 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in buying a multibillion-dollar stake in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the world's richest cricket league, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's advisers have spoken to Indian government officials about moving the IPL into a holding company valued at as much as $30 billion, the report said. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the custodian of the IPL, did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for a comment. IPL is one of the richest leagues in the world and has been attracting top players and coaches to India since its inaugural edition in 2008. LONDON, April 20 (Reuters) - British welterweight Conor Benn has been provisionally suspended by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) after two failed voluntary drugs tests last year that forced the postponement of his fight against Chris Eubank Jr, the organisation said on Thursday. Undefeated Benn, who has reiterated his innocence, voluntarily relinquished his British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) licence after the Eubank Jr fight was called off, vowing to clear his name. "Following reports in the media and comments made by professional boxer Mr Conor Benn on Tuesday 18 April 2023, and in exceptional circumstances, UKAD confirms that Mr Benn was notified and provisionally suspended by UKAD on 15 March 2023 in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules," a statement read. "UKAD can also confirm that on 3 April 2023 it charged Mr Benn with an Article 2.2 violation for the alleged Use of a Prohibited Substance (clomifene). LONDON, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Britain's Conor Benn will return to the WBC world rankings after the boxing body cleared him of intentional doping on Wednesday and said a "highly elevated consumption of eggs" was a reasonable explanation for failed tests last year. The WBC said in a statement that Benn's team had this month provided a detailed breakdown of his diet and consumption of supplements. It found no conclusive evidence that Benn, 26, intentionally ingested the banned substance Clomiphene and no procedural failures. "Benn’s documented and highly-elevated consumption of eggs during the times relevant to the sample collection, raised a reasonable explanation for the Adverse Finding," the WBC said. "The WBC Nutrition Committee will work with Mr. Benn’s team to design a nutrition program geared to avoid the risk of a future adverse finding caused by nutritional factors."

"We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted BCCI women cricketers," Shaw wrote in a post on Twitter. "The match fee for both men and women cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian cricket." Under their current annual contracts, women cricketers in the highest bracket earn 5 million rupees, while Grade B players take home 3 million and Grade C, 1 million. Former India women team captain Mithali Raj hailed the announcement on Twitter as "historic".
