Just this week, a restaurant in Los Angeles debuted a vegan “Barbie roll,” created using pink soy paper. According to Circana, the week the movie hit theaters, Barbie products accounted for six of the top 10 doll items sold. In footwear, unit sales of pink sneakers for adults grew 15% in the second quarter versus a year ago. Elsewhere, Barbie-licensed book sales jumped 53% in the second quarter compared to the first quarter of 2023, and up 44% compared to second quarter 2022. “The ‘Barbie’ movie has created excitement that is spanning a host of industries as Barbie fans of all ages are showing their love well beyond the movie,” said Cohen.

When Seema’s Birkin was taken, it sent me right down the rabbit hole to “Sex and the City,” Season 3, when Carrie’s Fendi Baguette was snatched — and then a very similar Baguette reappeared in this episode. Barbiecore “ignites my soul,” makeup artist Victoria Lyn recently told her 5.3 million TikTok followers from her Pensacola, Fla., studio. For the uninitiated, Barbiecore is a pink-drenched fashion craze that pranced into the zeitgeist last year after hot-pink collections from Valentino and Versace appeared on celebrities and on-set images from Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” film (out July 21) emerged online. Lyn claimed the trend “is here to slay for the summer.” Considering #Barbiecore currently has over 350 million views on TikTok, her prediction might well come to pass.

Greenwood told the magazine that constructing the set resulted in an international shortage of the fluorescent shade of Rosco paints. "The world ran out of pink," she told Architectural Digest. Upstairs on the Square restaurateur Deborah Hughes just listed her Victorian house for $1.4 million. Hughes decorated the three-bedroom with neon colors, lively patterns, and fun details over 21 years. The home drew 100 open-house visitors, a Zillow Gone Wild post, and a viral TikTok in six days. Located in Somerville, a smaller city four miles outside of Boston, the three-bedroom house decorated in a riot of colors and patterns hit the market for $1.475 million on May 3. Hughes is known locally as the co-owner of Upstairs on the Square, a beloved, fancifully decorated, and now-closed restaurant in nearby Harvard Square.
