CNN —Passengers on a Singapore Airlines flight hit by severe turbulence on Tuesday described a sudden, dramatic drop as “all hell broke loose” on board the Boeing airliner carrying 229 passengers and crew. Flight SQ321 was cruising at 37,000 feet from London to Singapore when flight tracking data shows the plane rapidly plunged before climbing several hundred feet, then repeated the dip and ascent, for about 90 seconds. At first, “the flight was perfectly normal,” said passenger Andrew Davies, who was traveling to New Zealand for business. He described the flight as “quite smooth … I don’t remember any turbulence at all.”Many passengers were having breakfast at the time of the incident. An Israeli passenger smoked a cigarette in the bathroom of an El Al plane on Friday, per The Times of Israel. The passenger will face legal action when he returns from Thailand to Israel, El Al said. The passenger's cigarette butt set toilet paper and tissues inside the trash can aflame, The Times of Israel reported. Flight attendants and the plane's captains used extinguishers to put the fire out, El Al said, per the newspaper. Police did not detain or remove anyone from the plane, the newspaper reported.

"I am always a supporter for Myanmar democracy; I will always support it as much as I can." Thai immigration officials denied her entry last week following a brief visit to Vietnam, saying she was using invalid travel documents. A Human Rights Watch director said Myanmar's military rulers were using control over passports as a weapon against citizens' right to travel internationally.
