CNN —At 6’3” and 295 pounds, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce often towers over other people. How a father can affect a sonSo many people now know that Jason Kelce is an all-pro center who had an illustrious 13-year career. But now as a father myself, I understand it in the same way that Jason understands a father’s support. I’ve seen the research that says children with involved fathers do better in school, have higher self-esteem, and just like Jason Kelce, show empathy. While I know those things, watching real-life dads like Jason Kelce and even more so, Ed, is so important to me.

"The Regime'" is HBO's latest bet on Kate Winslet, who helped carry miniseries like "Mare of Easttown" to critical acclaim. Privileges long taken for granted, like good housing and the chance for decent employment and advancement, are fast fading away. The same old, same old posture of the Democratic Party does not. What happened in 2016 is happening again, as once more someone from the old guard comes face to face with someone embodying the desperate fury of millions of people. It is indeed, as Mr. Stephens so eloquently stated, time for those in the liberal establishment to pull their heads out of the sand. Thank you, Mr. Stephens, for sounding the alarm.

In Silverman’s telling, the filmmaker, Joris Ivens, a Dutchman working in the United States, is already an undercover infiltrator for Soviet interests when the Spanish Civil War breaks out in 1936. Ivens was a real filmmaker, and his movie “The Spanish Earth,” released in 1937, was a real cause célèbre among leftists and artists. The frenemies Ernest Hemingway and John Dos Passos did write the screenplay, as Silverman relates. (He imagines shooting part of the documentary from an ant’s point-of-view, or a raindrop’s.) Nor, for all his faults, was Hemingway (Danny Wolohan) so complete a buffoon, given to shouting such hollow nonsense.

When it comes to male loneliness, social isolation hits dads particularly hard, author Shannon Carpenter writes. I’ve also experienced what has been called the male loneliness epidemic, and many dads tell me it has reached into fatherhood. The biggest question I get asked by fathers is how to find connection and friendship. How we think about fathers and fatherhoodToo often, fathers are portrayed as unnecessary idiots that complicate parenting rather than adding to the family. “We have to change the story of fatherhood,” Reeves said.

CNN —FBI special agents shot and killed a Utah man Wednesday while attempting to arrest him for allegedly making threats against President Joe Biden ahead of the president’s trip to the state. The case comes amid heightened vitriol aimed at national and local leaders in the lead-up to the 2024 election and what FBI Director Christopher Wray has called an “unprecedented” level of threats against FBI agents. “The Secret Service is aware of the FBI investigation involving an individual in Utah who has exhibited threats to a Secret Service protectee,” a Secret Service spokesperson said. !”FBI agents approached Robertson at his house in March about a social media post, investigators wrote in an affidavit. Don’t return without a warrant.”After the interaction, Robertson allegedly repeatedly threatened FBI agents online.

If you’re feeling bewildered by all the claims and counterclaims of politicization, you’re not alone. The Justice Department will always be led by a political appointee, and most state and local prosecutors are elected. That means extremely clear rules for investigators and prosecutors and eternal vigilance for the rest of us. So how to distinguish an investigation or prosecution based solely on the facts from one motivated improperly by politics? More often, though, it takes some work to determine whether an investigation or prosecution is on the level.

When Boris Johnson paid a surprise visit last year to the Swallow pub and poured some pints, he seemed to leave the clientele more agreed on his skills as a barman than as a politician. “He asked me whether it was a decent pint — and it was,” said Tony O’Shea, 55, holding up a photo on his phone of the moment he was served a beer by Mr. Johnson, then the prime minister. Still a fan, Mr. O’Shea described Mr. Johnson as a “lovable rogue” whom he had voted for in 2019. On the other side of the pub, however, Jenny Moffatt, 73, had no complaints about the drinks she was served by Mr. Johnson. But she described him as “a buffoon,” with a tendency to “pontificate.”Love him or laugh at him, Mr. Johnson was an outsize presence both in British politics — and here in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, the district of outer London that he represented in Parliament.

Alan Ruck Is Ready to Leave the Roy Family

The article includes spoilers for the most recent episode of “Succession.”One of the most impressive tricks HBO’s “Succession” has played on viewers over the course of four seasons is generating sympathy for reprehensible people. Sunday’s episode, in which democracy is discarded, apparently because Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin) had to eat too much chicken as a child, puts most of that sympathy to rest. It was perhaps the darkest moment for a character who has largely been relegated to buffoon status, but Ruck sees Connor’s ignorance as his main political tool. “He’ll believe whatever sounds good to him that day,” Ruck said in a recent video call full of vivid anecdotes and laughter. “He’ll read something online or he’ll hear something on television, then that’ll become, like, the central plank of his platform for that day.

A musician says he set up a fake Tesla account to show Elon Musk was "thin-skinned." Connor Musarra told Newsweek he created a parody verified Tesla account to highlight the issues with some of Musk's decisions for Twitter. The LA-based musician told the outlet: "The goal of my fake Tesla account was to highlight how much of a thin-skinned, incompetent buffoon Elon is, but also I just wanted to make people laugh." Musarra told Newsweek that Musk had "introduced a new level of unmanageable insanity" with his new paid verification system. Musarra said in a TikTok that his parody Tesla account was active for six or seven hours.
