In seeking to extend the pause and hostage releases, Mr. Biden has American interests to consider as well as those of Israel. Mr. Biden hopes an extension of the pause in exchange for the release of more hostages will result in the rest of the Americans being freed. “We’ll continue to remain personally engaged to see that this deal is fully implemented and work to extend the deal as well,” Mr. Biden told reporters. The release of Avigail gave Mr. Biden a small but emotionally powerful victory amid all the tumult in the region. “She’s been through a terrible trauma,” Mr. Biden said.

President Biden on Sunday hailed the release of Avigail Idan, a 4-year-old American citizen who has been held hostage by Hamas for seven weeks, and vowed to keep working to secure freedom for others in captivity and extend the pause in the fighting. “Thank God she’s home,” Mr. Biden told reporters in Nantucket, Mass., where he has been marking the Thanksgiving holiday. Her case has been the focus of widespread international attention and concern as she marked her fourth birthday on Friday. “More is needed but this deal is delivering lifesaving results,” Mr. Biden said. This deal is structured so that it can be extended to keep building on these results.

A third group of Gaza Strip hostages, including a 4-year-old American girl whose parents were killed in the Hamas raids on Israel, was freed on Sunday, raising the prospect more captives could be set free and a fragile truce extended. The 17 hostages released by Hamas, who were seized when the militants raided Israel on Oct. 7, included three Thai citizens, one Russian and the little girl Avigail Idan, a dual American-Israeli citizen who was kidnapped from a kibbutz. She marked her fourth birthday in captivity in Gaza on Friday. “Thank God she’s home,” President Biden said to reporters in Nantucket, Mass., where he spent the Thanksgiving holiday. “I wish I was there to hold her.”Much hinged on the latest release of hostages, who were exchanged for 39 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel on the third day of a four-day truce.

The family of Avigail Idan, a small child whose parents were murdered in front of their children by Hamas militants at a kibbutz during the Oct. 7 assault, hoped that they would be able to celebrate her fourth birthday with her on Friday. “I find myself barely breathing through the last 24 hours,” her aunt, Tal Idan, said after the announcement of the agreement. And in the Gaza Strip, Palestinians who have endured nearly seven weeks of intense airstrikes waited anxiously for the truce. Several international humanitarian organizations said the four-day cease-fire window was too tight to address the dire situation.

And progressive organizations are girding for possible challenges to Representatives Cori Bush of Missouri, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and others, funded from the deep pockets of AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups. “They spent a historic amount of money to intervene, and try and buy primaries in 2022,” said Usamah Andrabi, spokesman for Justice Democrats, the liberal insurgent group that helped elect many of the progressives now on the primary target list. “I think we will see a doubling and tripling down, because no one in the Democratic leadership is trying to stop them.”Officially, AIPAC is neutral for now. Progressive Democrats like Ms. Lee have other constituents to consider, including progressive Jews who remain by her side. Ms. Lee said Jews were “10 percent of our district, but we also have Muslim, Arab, Palestinian constituents who are afraid for their families and their lives.”

SITRIYA, Israel (AP) — Rarely do rabbis spend the Sabbath counting bodies. But on Saturday, a week after Hamas militants blew easily past Israel’s fortified security fence and gunned down hundreds of Israelis — at music festivals, in their homes, in cars while trying to flee — Israel’s military rabbinate made an exception. At Shura military base in central Israel, bodies have been coming in faster than the rabbis can identify them. “Generally, Jewish law says that you cannot break the Sabbath for a dead person,” said Rabbi Israel Weiss, who is helping lead the operation. Nearly two decades later, the militant group is still in power in Gaza, and the rabbinate was again at work on the Sabbath.

You probably spend a good amount of time with your colleagues if you still work in an office. There are psychological reasons for this, and ways to work out if the romance is real. Some respondents to a survey by the British employment platform TotalJobs said they felt the pressure to act more professionally while in a work relationship, and others said they worried about gossip. "Once you have written everything out, reread the list and honestly answer if this person aligns with what you're wanting." Overall, she said, an office relationship can be a "beautiful" experience, "if it is done carefully and thoughtfully."

MEXICO CITY, Nov 3 (Reuters) - The home town of Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman is considering housing a drug trafficking museum, the mayor was quoted as saying on Thursday, in the hope of attracting tourists to the area. Badiraguato's mayor, Jose Lopez, is reported to have earmarked close to $1 million for the project, according to Reforma. "We can't deny our history... it's possible we'll have a museum dedicated to drug trafficking," Lopez said told Milenio, adding the local government's priority was to encourage economic development in the region. Avigail Lopez, assistant to the municipal presidency, told Reuters that a museum is under construction, though its content and subject matter has not yet been finalised.
