The question of how long interest rates will remain robust matters to those making decisions about how to save. Savings accounts are attractive because balances are readily available for emergencies or planned expenses like a home down payment—but their interest rates can change quickly in response to Fed actions. Savings accounts vs. CDsThe best savings accounts and CDs were paying around half a percentage point of annual interest before the Fed started raising rates last spring. Safe, liquid alternatives to bank accounts include Treasury bonds—the one-year T-bill was recently yielding 5.4%—and money-market mutual funds, which yield a hair less.

A married couple moved from Tennessee to Florida to live closer to Disney World. Holly and Cody Cole now visit the resort about three times a week with their two-year-old. The couple, both 29, left Nashville, Tennessee and moved more than 700 miles to Auburndale, Florida in December. "We just wanted to leave Tennessee, but this is always where I wanted to end up," Holly Cole told Insider. "We've been here almost four months now and get to visit Disney around three times a week and we absolutely love it."

Sam Zell's Equity Lifestyle Properties, another large REIT that invests in RV parks alongside mobile homes, has also been busy. While it's not clear how much big investors have thrown into RV campgrounds, manufactured housing communities as a whole have seen a burst of Wall Street financing.
