Read previewAn intrafamily battle that could have been pulled straight out of the page of Jesse Armstrong's "Succession" has been playing out behind the scenes for the future of Rupert Murdoch's vast media empire. Lachlan, who is sometimes seen as a parallel to Roman Roy, as Business Insider's Madeline Berg reported, would likely preserve the political leanings of the media empire once he takes over. AdvertisementMurdoch's decision to give Lachlan control of his media empire has left the patriarch estranged from his three eldest children, according to the Times. None of the three children attended Murdoch's wedding to Elena Zhukova in June at his California vineyard, according to the Times report. Elisabeth left the media empire years ago in 2000, while Prudence is said to be the least involved in the business.

Read preview"Fly Me to the Moon," Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum's new romantic comedy-drama about faking the moon landing, is fictional but draws on some true historical events. The White House eventually tasks Kelly with filming a fake moon landing in case the real one fails. Apollo 11 spaceship launch director Cole Davis (Tatum) opposes Kelly's plan, believing it will discredit NASA's efforts. This storyline leans into the conspiracy theory that NASA faked the US moon landing in 1969. But there's no evidence to suggests NASA or any network tried to fake the moon landing.

Kaitlin Armstrong, 35, has been charged with murder and faces up to 99 years in prison in the May 2022 shooting death of Wilson, a competitive gravel and mountain bike racer. Wilson had been shot five times when she was found at a friend's home before a race she was among the favorites to win. Armstrong's SUV was seen at the home where Wilson was staying the night she was killed. Federal authorities tracked Armstrong to Costa Rica, where investigators said she tried to change her appearance and used several aliases while attempting to establish herself as a yoga instructor in that country. The trial judge placed a gag order on the case in August 2022, preventing her defense attorneys or prosecutors from commenting.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A woman awaiting trial in the killing of professional cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson tried to run from officers escorting her to a doctor appointment Wednesday, authorities said. Two corrections officers had taken Kaitlin Armstrong to the appointment and were escorting her back to a patrol vehicle “when she ran," Travis County Sheriff spokeswoman Kristen Dark said. Armstrong ran more than a block into a neighborhood, but she could be seen by deputies the entire time before she was caught, Dark said. Armstrong and the two officers were taken to a hospital for a brief examination after the incident, and Armstrong was later returned to jail. Authorities have said Armstrong tried to change her appearance and used several aliases as she moved around Costa Rica while attempting to establish herself up as a yoga instructor in that country.

A proven track record of success gives Hannon Armstrong a leg up over its peers, according to Baird. The firm reiterated its outperform rating of Hannon Armstrong on Tuesday, naming it a bullish fresh pick. Organized as a REIT, Hannon Armstrong specializes in providing financing for sustainable infrastructure projects in the form of debt and equity capital. Additionally, a competing investment firm's recent reduction of Hannon Armstrong's dividend growth outlook may have also contributed to the sell-off. LONDON, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Sepp Kuss's unlikely victory in La Vuelta a Espana could provide a timely boost for a flagging road cycle racing scene in the United States, according to Chris Horner whose 2013 triumph Kuss emulated on Sunday. The 29-year-old Kuss entered the race as a 'domestique' for more illustrious Jumbo-Visma team mates Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic. The road race scene is hardly booming in the U.S with few stage-racing opportunities for up-and-coming riders after the demise of the Tour of California, Colorado and Utah. "The racing scene in the U.S. is drowning or at best its nose is over the water. They were having meetings before the race, during the race, after the race, and then before everyone went to bed.

"We're hearing rumors that the SEC would like to get rid of crypto staking in the U.S. for retail customers," he said in his tweet . Staking is not just a yield-generating opportunity for crypto investors, it's also essential to the way proof-of-stake protocols like Ethereum operate. If there was some kind of chokehold on staking or staking services, the outcome for Ethereum could be "disastrous," according to Owen Lau, an analyst at Oppenheimer. That opportunity is widely seen as a catalyst for mainstream adoption of crypto and a revenue opportunity for exchanges like Coinbase. Armstrong's latest comments came a day before Kraken, one of Coinbase's main exchange competitors, agreed to shutter its crypto staking operations to settle charges with the SEC, according to CoinDesk.

The implosion of FTX shook the crypto industry to its core in recent weeks as token prices continue to fall. CEO Brian Armstrong gave an interview to the Stratechery newsletter, and these are the best quotes. CEO Brian Armstrong spoke with the Stratechery newsletter on Thursday, addressing the future of crypto as well as the implosion of FTX and its impact going forward. On the prevalent fraud in crypto"I do think we have to admit as an industry that crypto has attracted more fraudsters than we'd like. On the future of crypto"There are enough great people working in crypto that I think this industry is going to do really well.
Shares of mass market retailers will fall as profit margins are squeezed, and consumers curtail spending next year, according to Plurimi Wealth's chief investment officer. Selling shares "short" means borrowing shares through a broker to sell them immediately with a plan to repurchase them when the price is lower. In such an environment, mass market retailers that benefit from discretionary spending will see their revenues decline. While investors are split over the health of the American consumer, European shoppers are mostly expected to curtail their spending habits next year. Elsewhere in Europe, economists are also expecting a recession for the first half of next year that will impact discretionary spending.
"Consumers are going to have their purse strings pulled by utility bills, higher mortgage costs, higher petrol prices, and there's going to be margin squeeze." He said wage pressure and higher commodity prices were particularly challenging and could eat into companies' margins. Luxury Luxury stocks are another favorite for Armstrong. Moreover, the "massive" profit margins of luxury companies are also insulated from increases in input prices, he added. Within the space, Armstrong's fund owns French luxury goods companies LVMH and Hermes , given their "defendable margins" and the ability to be price setters.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong confirmed to CNBC that Sam Bankman-Fried approached him to try to raise emergency funds for FTX. Armstrong's revelation comes as Bankman-Fried reportedly warned investors that he needs to raise $4 billion in emergency funding or risk bankruptcy, according to a report by Bloomberg. "I f---ed up," Bankman-Fried reportedly told investors. Investors reportedly withdrew $6 billion from the FTX earlier this week on fears of a cryptocurrency meltdown, creating a liquidity crunch for the company. Armstrong told CNBC he felt "duped" by Sam Bankman-Fried after revelations of how FTX reportedly misused customer funds came to light.
Together, these revenue streams mean cryptocurrency influencers profit off their viewers no matter which way the market turns. Of course, crypto YouTube is a far cry from the regulated world of traditional finance. Armstrong told the Post that he made "maybe close to a million" from before dropping sponsored content in January 2022. A price list leaked by ZachXBT appears to show that dozens of small crypto influencers also have menus for similar undisclosed deals. But with little regulatory oversight, crypto influencers show little sign of slowing down — despite the precipitous decline of the crypto market.
