In just one hour, nearly a month’s worth of rainfall inundated the city of Malaga, in Spain’s Andalusia region, according to the country’s meteorological agency AEMet.
The southern Spanish province picked up roughly 100 millimeters (4 inches) of rain so far on Wednesday, 78 millimeters (3 inches) of which fell within an hour.
The Malaga City Council issued evacuation orders Wednesday near the Campanillas River due to the risk of overflowing.
The coastal area of Valencia province has now been issued a red weather warning for Thursday.
The City Council of Valencia announced that school activities are suspended throughout Valencia city and its districts this Wednesday and Thursday to avoid risks.
