Luxury travelers are not necessarily looking for the best deals but the best way to plan a trip without the hassle. Business Insider talked to three luxury-travel advisors about the industry's growth and how to transition into travel advising. D. Tours TravelAngela Adto Tepper, the owner of AZA Luxury Travel, said that the shift toward luxury travel had increased since the pandemic, with more Americans prioritizing travel. Traveler agents work on commission, getting a percentage of hotel, cruise, or tour costs, which is paid after a trip is over. Travel advisors can also offer complimentary upgrades and have access to experiences that might not be available to the public.

President Joe Biden and Democrats have tried unsuccessfully to restore nationwide abortion rights since the Supreme Court issued its landmark reversal of Roe in 2022. AdvertisementHogan's position makes him one of the few prominent Republicans to support abortion rights. When he first announced his Senate run, Hogan initially said he needed to think more about his position on abortion rights. Democrats have already placed abortion rights on the Florida ballot this November. No Republican Senate is going to make a serious effort to codify Roe, given the party's near-universal support to restrict abortion rights.

Carol Moseley Braun, one of only two Black women to have been elected to the Senate in U.S. history, was in Paris on Wednesday when she was informed that another Black woman, Angela Alsobrooks, had won the Democratic nomination for an open Senate seat in Maryland. “That’s wonderful.”With Ms. Alsobrooks’s come-from-behind victory in Tuesday’s primary, voters in November will most likely have the chance to double the number of Black women ever elected to the Senate. Another Democrat, Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, is the odds-on favorite to win her party’s nomination in September for an open Senate seat in heavily Democratic Delaware. If both win in November, for the first time, two Black women will serve in Congress’s upper chamber at the same time. Larry Hogan, a former two-term Maryland governor and an unabashed G.O.P. critic of Donald J. Trump, is the favorite in a crowded Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Benjamin L. David Trone, a third-term congressman and owner of Total Wine & More, an alcohol retailer.

It’s an unfamiliar question for deep-blue Maryland, which hasn’t had a Republican senator in nearly four decades. But the state’s typically sleepy Senate race has heated up this year after Larry Hogan, the popular former two-term Republican governor, decided to run. Now Democrats across the state are wringing their hands trying to figure out which of their candidates has a better shot at defeating Mr. Hogan. Perhaps because of the heightened stakes, the contest has turned increasingly negative as it has tightened, splitting Democrats in Congress and beyond. While congressional leaders have endorsed Mr. Trone, all but one Democrat in the state’s congressional delegation are backing Ms. Alsobrooks.

Hogan's political ascendency resulted in large part from his criticism of tax increases that resonated with a tax-weary electorate in his upset victory in 2014. And Hogan, who was originally elected governor by railing against tax increases endorsed by the Maryland General Assembly, has already made the Maryland race unusually competitive in the heavily Democratic state. The Maryland Senate this month largely kept his budget plan intact, despite a drop in revenue estimates announced after the governor submitted his plan. The Senate has been mostly unreceptive to the House plan, with Ferguson ruling out the corporate tax component. He's also ruled out legalizing internet gambling this year, another part of the House plan.

The death earlier this month of Foremost Group CEO Angela Chao, the sister-in-law of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, is currently under "criminal investigation," a Texas sheriff's office said Thursday. "This incident was not a typical accident," the Blanco County Sheriff's Office wrote in a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Thursday. "Releasing the reports, videos and other information prior to the completion of the investigation would interfere with the investigation and possible prosecution of this matter," the sheriff's office wrote. The sheriff's office in that Feb. 16 statement had said, "EMS attempted emergency measures on Ms. Chao but she succumbed from being under the water." Chao was the sister of McConnell's wife, Elaine Chao, who has served as secretary of both the U.S. Labor and Transportation departments.

Angela Aneiros, an assistant professor at Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Wash., can’t get enough of Elon Musk. “For better or worse, he’s like the gift that keeps on giving to corporate law professors. The students relate to Musk and I can say to them, ‘Here’s the perfect example of what not to do.’”The latest perfect example is what Musk wrote on Monday on X, which he owns. “Unless that is the case,” he wrote, “I would prefer to build products outside of Tesla.”To Aneiros and other experts in corporate law, Musk’s threat is audacious, for reasons I’ll get into. But it’s also a teachable moment in that it surfaces principles concerning how corporations, their boards and their executives work with one another.
