Meanwhile, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that a series of blasts had occurred in the Ukrainian capital, with missile fragments falling in the Desnianskyi district. KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A missile strike on the Russian city of Belgorod near the Ukraine border on Thursday killed six people, including a child, and injured 18 others, a Russian official said. It was the latest in exchanges of long-range missile and rocket fire in Russia's war on Ukraine. Five of the 18 people injured in Belgorod, a city of around 340,000 people, were children, regional Gov. Dozens of people were killed and injured in an attack there over Russia’s New Year holiday weekend. The Russian missiles used on Thursday included Iskander ballistic missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, guided aviation missiles and adapted S-300 anti-aircraft missiles.

Ukraine says Russia fired more than 120 missiles across the country on Thursday morning. Cities that were targeted include Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, and Zhytomyr, the BBC reported. The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia was attacking multiple cities from "various directions with air and sea-based cruise missiles," the BBC reported. Alongside Kyiv, explosions were also reported in the cities of Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, and Zhytomyr, the BBC said. Most of the western city of Lviv is also without power, and citizens were warned of water disruptions, Mayor Andrii Sadovyi said.
