Peter Meijer, the one-term Republican congressman who lost his seat after voting to impeach President Donald J. Trump, has announced he is running for Senate in Michigan, jumping into a crowded primary in a key battleground. “We are in dark and uncertain times, but we have made it through worse,” Mr. Meijer said in a statement announcing his candidacy on Monday. Mr. Meijer, an heir to the Meijer supermarket empire and an Army Reserve veteran who served in Iraq, joins a field that includes Mike Rogers, another former representative who served seven terms in the House and led the House Intelligence Committee, who announced his candidacy in September. The actor Hill Harper is making moves toward a US Senate campaign launch in Michigan, per Politico. According to Politico, Harper, who lives in Detroit, is putting the final touches on a campaign launch that is still likely a few weeks away. "I think Hill getting in the race would be a really good thing for Michigan Democrats," Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton told Politico. Most major Democratic officials in the state passed on the race earlier this year, but the Democratic primary is not hurting for candidates. Besides Slotkin, the other announced Democratic candidates include former state Rep. Leslie Love, businessman Nasser Beydoun, Michigan State Board of Education president Pamela Pugh, and attorney Zack Burns.

Bank of America's HR chief for banking and markets has left the firm. Alexandria Taylor became a power broker in the dealmaking and trading division during her nearly two decades at BofA. One of those long-time power brokers, global banking and markets division HR chief Alexandria Taylor, has departed the firm, people familiar with the matter told Insider. She became head of HR for global markets in 2013, and was promoted to HR chief for all of global banking and markets in 2018. Montag announced his retirement in August of 2021, and Taylor's tenure at the firm lasted one year longer.
