One of the strangest quotes I can remember associated with O.J. Simpson came from the broadcaster Al Michaels during the notorious freeway chase in 1994. Michaels, a sports commentator now covering the flight from the law of one of America’s biggest celebrities, said that he had spoken with his friend Simpson on the phone earlier. Simpson, during and after his pro football career, was a creature of the media business. With the freeway chase, and the acrimonious trial on live TV, he would essentially become the media business.

The tech giant is gearing up for a big 'Thursday Night Football' season with key matchups and new ad offerings. After hitting some snags with its inaugural NFL "Thursday Night Football" season on Prime Video last year, Amazon is bringing plenty of swagger to the field this year. Amazon is getting more TV ad dollars this year as the twin Hollywood strikes rage on, a top exec said. Amazon last year had also softened on its initial ask that advertisers buy the entire season's games and gave them the option to buy a portion of the games. Some advertisers were forgiving, though, given it was Amazon's first go at a live sports broadcast.

Walt Disney Animation Studios/Handout via REUTERSLONDON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Walt Disney Animation Studios has produced its first Oswald the Lucky Rabbit film in 94 years, creating a new animation short of the much loved character said to be a prototype for Mickey Mouse. "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit" was created by the studio's hand-drawn animation team as part of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company. Animator and producer Walt Disney created Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in 1927 for Universal, introducing the mischievous character to audiences in the short film “Trolley Troubles”. Disney and his team created 26 Oswald short films, with the last released in 1928 when he lost creative control over the character.
Amazon Prime averaged 13 million viewers for its debut broadcast of "Thursday Night Football," according to Nielsen figures released by the company. "By every measure, Thursday Night Football on Prime Video was a resounding success," Jay Marine, global head of Amazon's sports division, wrote late Monday in a memo to staff. Amazon also partnered with DirecTV in a multiyear agreement for the satellite TV provider to air Thursday night games in more than 300,000 bars, restaurants, hotels and casinos. Amazon's game stream provides viewers with the company's so-called next-generation statistics as well as the play-by-play stylings of former "Sunday Night Football" announcer Al Michaels and college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit. Fans can pay $14.99 for a full Amazon Prime subscription or $8.99 for a Prime Video subscription to view the games.
Amazon said it averaged 13M viewers for its first "Thursday Night Football" broadcast, beating projections. Amazon said Thursday it averaged 13 million viewers for its first "Thursday Night Football" stream, citing Nielsen, whose numbers slightly beat the streamer's own projection of 12.5 million. "While just one game, I think it validates that streaming exclusive NFL games can compete with the traditional linear networks. Amazon started exclusively streaming the games last week as it makes a play to be a mainstream sports player. "We could see viewership continue to go up in the coming weeks as well, as more fans become more accustomed to the Prime TNF stream.
The Lakers star's decision to sell his LA home for $30 million comes amid rumors of a trade. The Brentwood Park mansion is nearly 13,500 square feet in one of LA's exclusive communities. Lakers star Russell Westbrook is listing his Los Angeles home for $30 million as whispers of a potential trade continue to spread. In true Westbrook fashion, the listing boasts "two separate walk-in (closets) that rival any luxury department store." Whoever ends up purchasing the athlete's mansion will have Lebron James, Judd Apatow, and sports commentator Al Michaels as neighbors, the LA Times reports.
