Atlas Mountains, Morocco CNN —Khadija Ait Si Ali was just starting to rebuild her life when the earthquake struck. He told CNN he was determined to rebuild a home for his family. He told CNN the financial assistance would be a significant help for people living in the mountains. Back in Tinzert, Khadija Ait Si Ali said that for now, she was just trying to focus on her baby and get through each day. Ait Si Ali said she felt lost with nobody to turn to.

In 2022 she acquired a free abandoned house on Shikoku, the smallest of Japan's four main islands. She doesn't think it's smart for foreigners to jump into homeownership in the Japanese countryside. I had made assumptions after watching HGTV-inspired YouTube videos about abandoned houses in Japan, but it's not necessarily realistic. I personally don't think that it's a good idea for foreign people to jump into homeownership in the Japanese countryside right away. For someone like me who's only lived in large cities in America, to go to the Japanese countryside is an even bigger cultural shift.

In a survey of more than 900 auto industry execs published in December, KPMG found that respondents think only 37% of new vehicle sales in the US will be electric by 2030. The survey results come two days after Toyota's CEO came under fire for comments that indicate he's not all that sold on EVs just yet. The KPMG survey also reported that 76% of respondents said inflation and high-interest rates will impact their business in 2023.
