Nearly half of CEOs — 49% — say AI could effectively replace "most," or even "all," of their own roles, and 47% say it might even be a good thing, according to a survey from online education platform edX. The poll, published on Tuesday, surveyed 1,600 full-time U.S. workers, including 800 C-suite executives and CEOs, as well as 800 non-executive workers. "It is clear that a majority [of executives] think that AI is going to be transformative," he tells CNBC Make It. It could also tackle other CEO responsibilities, like analyzing market data and brainstorming ways to improve a business' operations, some experts say. Delegating those mundane tasks could help CEOs focus on "the things that make them CEOs ... vision and dreaming about new products and selling," Agarwal says.

Foxconn declined to comment on the report, while India's technology ministry and Vedanta did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment. KKR, which jointly holds Serentica with billionaire Anil Agarwal's Twinstar Overseas Ltd, had in November committed to invest $400 million in the company. Founded last year, Serentica focuses on industrial decarbonisation by making renewables the primary source of energy for the commercial and industrial sectors, that use more than 50% of the electricity generated in India. A Meta employee said he was laid off two days after moving from India to Canada for work. Meta laid off 11,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce. Himanshu V., a software engineer from India, wrote in a LinkedIn post on November 10 that he was one of the thousands of employees affected by Meta's mass layoffs. Himanshu is not the only employee suddenly laid off by Meta days after relocating from India. Neelima Agarwal, a software engineer who moved from India to Canada in November, said she was laid off two days after joining the company.
