Chris Larsen, the billionaire founder of blockchain payments company Ripple who is among the execs to endorse Harris, told Business Insider he wants her to make different appointments if she wins. "The way that they have already been interacting with business leaders is a compelling indication of where things could go in the future," Levie told Business Insider. Kovacic previously told Business Insider that Harris' relationship to economic progressives like Warren remains unclear. "It's not as though they think she will simply be an agent of Big Tech," he previously told Business Insider. "In the next four years, we'll be dealing with major policy subjects that relate to the next many decades of innovation," he told Business Insider.

Over the last year, a growing number of cinnamon products have been recalled in the U.S. due to high levels of lead. That prompted Consumer Reports to test brands such as Badia, McCormick and Morton & Bassett, along with smaller brands, across 17 mainstream and niche grocery stores. It found high levels of lead in 12 products, with levels reaching 3.5 parts per million. Paras cinnamon powder had the most lead, according to Consumer Reports, containing 3.52 ppm. The FDA has wound down some of its response efforts to its cinnamon applesauce investigation but will continue to monitor other products in stores for high lead levels.

Read previewIt was probably the most noteworthy thing to come out of Kamala Harris' much-anticipated CNN interview late last month: The Vice President, if elected, pledged to appoint a Republican to her Cabinet. "It may be difficult to find a rational, sane person who still identifies as a Republican" that would agree to serve in Harris' cabinet, Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut quipped. "There are a lot of Republicans that I think are capable of assuming Cabinet positions," Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts said. "I'm not floating people's names for particular positions," Rep. Ro Khanna of California said, shortly after heaping praise on Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and former Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin. Though he said Harris' pledge was a "positive step," he made clear on Tuesday that he's not interested in serving in her administration.

The campaign is tapping state political directors to lead outreach to Republicans in their regions, the source told NBC News. However, the source said the campaign is having a difficult time locking in support from certain state leadership teams to head GOP outreach. As part of Sunday’s announcement, the Harris campaign said it will unveil a digital campaign where Republican Harris supporters make “their case online to fellow Republicans.”During the 2020 election, the Biden-Harris campaign relied on independent, never-Trump groups to court GOP voters. That source believes former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., will eventually endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, though she was not included in Sunday’s rollout of campaign endorsements. The source also said they suggested that the Harris campaign court the endorsement of former Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020.

It’s just a decisive move toward America First on foreign policy.”Trump’s selection of Vance is one of the clearest barometers of the former president’s tightening hold over the GOP. Those included Christian conservatives, the business community, congressional insiders and traditional Republican foreign policy hawks shaped by Ronald Reagan’s vision of the US as the muscular leader of the free world. Instead, with Vance, Trump chose an acolyte and potential successor who could deepen and extend the direction the former president has set for the party. Vance has been most unequivocal in criticizing the internationalist approach to foreign policy centered on robust alliances. With the selection of Vance, Trump has broadcast his belief that he has conclusively won the internal GOP debate over all aspects of US interactions with the world – foreign policy, immigration and trade.

But there’s a small, powerful sect of Silicon Valley billionaires who are carving a path for the maybe-Trumpers and the MAGA-curious in the tech world. David Sacks, the billionaire tech investor, co-hosted a fundraiser last month at his San Francisco home and spoke at the Republican National Convention on Monday. In the last election cycle, the few Trump backers that existed in the Valley largely kept their support under the radar. Their numbers are still small, but they’re no longer hiding, and their wallets are open. In the summer of 1964, Italian fishermen recovered an antique bronze statue from the seabed off Italy’s Adriatic coast. It reappeared in the gallery of a Munich art dealer who dated it to around 400 B.C. The Getty Foundation bought it in 1977 for almost $4 million and put it on display as the “Victorious Youth” at the Getty Villa, where it still is. In May, the European Court of Human Rights upheld Italy’s right to seize the statue. If a statue cast in Greece 2,000 years ago is discovered off the coast of Italy, is it part of the heritage of modern Italy?

Asked whether Biden would exit the race, Biden campaign spokesperson Seth Schuster responded: “No.”“There’s no basis for that,” one Biden adviser also told CNN Friday morning. The Biden campaign will hold an all-staff meeting Friday afternoon, two Biden campaign officials told CNN, part of what they said is a routine pattern of Friday meetings. “It’s hard to debate a liar,” Biden told patrons at an Atlanta-area Waffle House following the debate. Big lies.”Pro-Biden political world fretsIn the broader pro-Biden and anti-Trump political universe, the panic over Biden’s debate performance was much clearer on Friday morning. CNN —Big changes are coming for New York’s youngest social media users after Gov. The unprecedented move makes New York the first state to pass a law regulating social media algorithms amid nationwide allegations that apps such as Instagram or TikTok have hooked users with addictive features. New York officials hailed the legislation as a critical check on social media platforms’ influence over teens. “Algorithmic curation makes teenagers’ feeds healthier, and banning algorithms is going to make social media worse for teens.”The legislation’s signing sets the stage for another in a long string of court battles over state social media laws. States such as Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana and many others have passed laws clamping down on social media companies’ approach to teens.

CNN —There seems to be a doctrine within the National Security Council in the Biden administration: escalation aversion. Ukraine requested Javelins and Stingers before the full-scale war began when Russia invaded Ukraine in February of 2022. After the battle of Kyiv was won, Ukraine requested MiG-29s, which Poland agreed to provide in exchange for Western fighters. Ukraine requested Abrams tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles for trench warfare in the east. In an interview last week, NewsNation’s Blake Burman asked Speaker Mike Johnson about Marjorie Taylor Greene, and before Burman could finish his question, Johnson responded with classic Southern scorn. “Bless her heart,” he said, and then he told Burman that Greene wasn’t proving to be a serious lawmaker and that he didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about her. To understand the significance of this moment, it’s necessary to understand the changing culture of the MAGAfied Republican Party. But there’s an open question: Does the MAGA movement have the same control over the Republican Party when Trump isn’t directly in the fray? If the likes of Greene or Steve Bannon or Matt Gaetz or Charlie Kirk can wield the same power, then the transformation of the party will be complete.

This is an extraordinarily dangerous time for the United States and our allies. Civil libertarians argued that the surveillance bill erodes Americans’ privacy rights and pointed to examples when American citizens got entangled in investigations. The result preserves critical intelligence powers while protecting Americans’ privacy rights in our complex digital age. At the center of the debate is the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. That way, the government can efficiently obtain from communication providers the calls and messages of large numbers of foreign targets — 246,073 in 2022 alone.
