Wall Street wrapped up another positive week, with the S & P 500 closing Friday above 5,000 for the first time ever. It was a pretty light week in terms of economic data releases, though we did get a favorable ISM Services number on Monday. Things will pick up next week with several closely watched macroeconomic updates, including two key government inflation reports. While no Club earnings are scheduled to report earnings in the week ahead, 61 companies in the S & P 500 will deliver their latest quarterly results. Consumer inflation: The main event of the week will come on Tuesday when the January consumer price index (CPI) is released.

Analysts are boosting earnings estimates on a collection of stocks set to report quarterly results next week, which could signal strong momentum ahead. Fourth-quarter earnings have so far been better-than-expected, with technology stocks including Meta Platforms and Amazon outperforming analyst estimates and helping lift the S & P 500 to a new all-time highs. Still, some companies set to report quarterly results next week are also seeing analysts increase their profit forecasts, adding potential momentum to those companies' stock performance. EPS estimates have increased by about 4% on average over the same time period. Akamai stock hit a new 52-week high on Thursday.

Nov 7 (Reuters) - Akamai Technologies (AKAM.O) forecast fourth-quarter adjusted profit above Wall Street estimates on Tuesday, helped by strong demand for its cloud security services as rapid digitalization raises the risk of high-profile hacks. Spending on cybersecurity services have stayed resilient amid growing cyber crimes and privacy concerns even as companies tightened the budgets for other IT services. Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Akamai expects fourth-quarter adjusted profit at about $1.57 per share, compared with analysts average estimate of $1.54 per share, according to LSEG data. The company reported revenue of $965 million and adjusted profit of $1.63 per share for the quarter ended Sept. 30. Analysts expected revenue at $943.32 million and adjusted profit at $1.50 per share.

Economic releases : The Labor Department releases its monthly consumer price index and producer price index on Thursday and Friday, respectively. For that reason, we'd be content if the July figure doesn't indicate a resurgence of rising wholesale costs, which is a concern given a recent uptick in energy prices. On Tuesday before the opening bell, Club holding Eli Lilly (LLY) reports. Finally, Club names Walt Disney (DIS) and Wynn Resorts (WYNN) will report on Wednesday after the closing bell. These agreements allow developers to build larger towers and earn more revenue in exchange for providing public spaces. “Developers received something that was disproportionately valuable,” said Jerold S. Kayden, a lawyer and professor of urban planning and design at Harvard University and an advocate for keeping privately owned public spaces open to the public. Bonus Building Space The additional space that developers received is often far larger than the public spaces they provided. Here are the 392 buildings with privately owned public spaces. The violations fall under three main categories:Reduced Access In 2021, the plaza at 835 Sixth Avenue was fenced off.

With only a small fraction of the S & P 500 left to report quarterly earnings, investors are now turning their focus to another major hurdle for the markets and economy: the debt ceiling crisis. Earlier this week, we looked back to debt limit crisis of 2011 for potential lessons. The protracted fight ultimately ended in an agreement in early August of that year, but it was a choppy summertime ride for investors. Within the portfolio, Wynn Resorts will report Tuesday, after the closing bell, and Disney will report on Wednesday, after the closing bell. Estee Lauder (EL) and Emerson Electric (EMR) reported earnings before the opening bell.
March 23 (Reuters) - Large companies, including asset manager Franklin Templeton (BEN.N) and web-services provider Akamai Technologies Inc (AKAM.O), joined an effort on Thursday to defend sustainable investment practices from a backlash by U.S. Republican politicians. Republicans, often from energy-producing states, have sought to block the growing use of environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations by shareholders and corporate executives. BlackRock Inc (BLK.N) for instance on Thursday said it would continue to press companies for information about climate risks. Mindy Lubber, CEO of sustainability nonprofit Ceres, which organized Thursday's statement, told a call with reporters that companies showed "some hesitancy" to speak up. But Anne Simpson, head of sustainability for Franklin Templeton, part of California-based Franklin Resources Inc (BEN.N), said on the same call that ESG efforts are "fiduciary duty at work".
Looking forward The January consumer price index (CPI) , which calculates the average change over time in prices that shoppers pay for goods and services, is slated for Tuesday. Economists and investors will use the number to gauge the odds of a soft landing or hard landing for the economy. The producer price index (PPI) for January, which calculates the change in selling prices received by producers of goods and services, is out on Thursday. “Most Irish nationalists, most Irish Catholics in Northern Ireland regarded it as being not for them. “[It is a] sort of a badge, an emblem or totem of British imperialism, British colonialism.”‘The Troubles’McClean is one such dissenting voice. He was born and raised in Derry, a small town in Northern Ireland bordering the Republic. "The Troubles" split communities in Northern Ireland who still feel the affects more than 20 years later. At the time, he questioned the Northern Irish football team’s decision to play “God Save the Queen” as its national anthem.
It is very premature, in my view, to think about or be talking about pausing our rate hikes. The news sent those stocks reliant on China for growth — Starbucks, Estee Lauder and Wynn Resorts, among many others — higher. Or bad news could just be bad news if weak data signals a recession ahead. And good news could be good news: for example, if China reopens and U.S. companies exposed to the region see a boost in demand.
