The three-day in-office hybrid work schedule is a "win-win-win," according to a study published in the prestigious science journal Nature. Non-manager attrition for hybrid employees had a 2.4% rate, a one-third reduction from the control group of 7.2%. When managers measured employees in nine categories of performance, execution and results, hybrid employees succeeded at the same rate. By the end of the experiment, managers positively viewed hybrid work as a potential asset to the company rather than a detriment to productivity. From an economic policymaking standpoint, hybrid work is one of the few instances where there aren't major trade-offs with clear winners and clear losers.

New US sanctions against Russia have caused an immediate suspension of trading in dollars and euros on the country’s leading financial marketplace, the Moscow Exchange. “Due to the introduction of restrictive measures by the United States against the Moscow Exchange Group, exchange trading and settlements of deliverable instruments in US dollars and euros are suspended,” the central bank said. The move means banks, companies and investors will no longer be able to trade either currency via a central exchange, which offers advantages such as better liquidity and oversight. The central bank said it would use data from those trades to set official exchange rates. The central bank reassured people these deposits were secure.

New York CNN —Boeing reported another weak month for new plane orders as it struggles to overcome questions about safety and production problems with its commercial jets. The company reported it took orders for only four new jets in May, all for the 787 Dreamliner, and none for the troubled 737 Max. That was down from even the modest orders of seven gross orders in April, and far below the order of 69 jets it reported in May 2023. Orders for Boeing jets have fallen sharply, for the most part, from the strong sales it reported in 2023, including a monthly record for orders in December, due to airlines’ eagerness to expand their capacity to meet increased passenger travel demand. Shares of Boeing, a component of the Dow Jones industrial average, fell more than 3% on the report.

The S & P 500 made a new record high, its 25 th of the year. And on the surface, there is a stolid calm that suggests a system in comfortable equilibrium, the market achieving a kind of homeostasis. Four of the past five days last week, the S & P 500 moved less than 0.2%. The S & P 500 is up almost 2% since its closing peak at the end of the first quarter, perhaps the moment of maximum belief in a seamless soft economic landing. Representatives for Lynch and US prosecutors said Lynch was acquitted on all 15 charges — one count of conspiracy and 14 counts of wire fraud. Former Autonomy finance executive Stephen Chamberlain, who faced the same charges at trial alongside Lynch, was also acquitted on all counts, the Lynch representative said. On the stand, the entrepreneur said he had been focused on tech issues, and entrusted money matters and the accounting decisions at issue to Sushovan Hussain, Autonomy’s then-chief financial officer. Hussain was separately convicted in 2018 at a trial in the same court on charges related to the deal with HP. HP largely won a civil lawsuit against Lynch and Hussain in London in 2022, though damages have not yet been decided.

The reason for that is mostly the American consumer, with spending accounting for about 70% of gross domestic product.
