My daughter couldn't tie her shoes until she was 9 because she had no interest before that. AdvertisementThis same strategy is why I don't push my third grader to read more even though she's still at a second-grade reading level. Because of her learning disability, I don't push her to read more. When my kids learn something they actually have an interest in, the process is easier, safer, and more enjoyable for all of us. She was shocked at how easy it was to tie her shoes in just a couple of minutes.

BEIJING — Many of Apple’s affluent iPhone users in China are just as interested in Huawei’s pricier trifold phone, CNBC found during spot checks at stores Friday, the day the iPhone 16 and Mate XT launched in the country. The iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $1,199, and the iPhone 16 at $799. Huawei’s trifold Mate XT starts at the equivalent of more than $2,800. The Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max was selling for 10,500 yuan to 16,300 yuan, the site showed. Packaged foods, soda, chips, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and ice cream all fall under the category of ultraprocessed foods, which can include dozens of synthetic additives such as preservatives, emulsifiers and artificial dyes. For every 10% increase in the amount of a person’s diet made up of ultraprocessed foods, the team found that there was a 17% increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes, the data showed. The scientists also found that reducing the amount of ultraprocessed food you are consuming can lower the risk, according to the study. “Ultra-processed foods are everywhere,” Dicken said via email. “We also know that increased body fat (from excess calories) increases the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Onvo, the lower-priced brand launched by premium electric car company Nio , announced its first car, the L60 SUV, would start as low as 149,900 Chinese yuan ($21,210) when buying battery services via a monthly subscription, starting at 599 yuan. Nio shares briefly rose by more than 3.5% in U.S. trading Thursday after the Onvo L60 launch. Amazon will also offer the $139 yearly Prime benefit to employees for free. Amazon’s decision to raise wages is another sign of a tight jobs market for logistics workers, fueled by more Americans shopping online. The average hourly wage for transportation and warehouse workers rose to $30.79 in August, up 22% from August of 2020, according to the Labor Department.
