Over the past few weeks, economic news from the U.K. has heavily focused on the state of British national finances and how they might impact both the British public and the prospects for economic growth. Regardless of how the U.K. fiscal situation stands now, it is clear that the current shortfalls are both years in the making and run the risk of having consequences that could last for years to come. The ultimate dilemma facing Labour now is that the country cannot produce enough revenue to close systemic shortfalls without sustained economic growth, but it also cannot create economic growth without real investment, both from the public and private sectors. According to TikTok, the company does “not allow ads featuring political content across any of our monetization features, including paid ads, creators being paid to make branded political content, and other promotional tools on the platform.”TikTok stands apart among its big tech peers in banning political ads — Facebook, Instagram, X and Google all allow political advertisements. The continued presence of political ads on TikTok illustrates the difficulties in patrolling its own platform just weeks ahead of the 2024 presidential election and amid the court proceedings over its potential ban. The findings come as recent research shows that political ads on social media platforms are often filled with misinformation. Washington CNN —The House failed on Wednesday to pass a six-month GOP government funding plan that included a controversial measure targeting noncitizen voting, an effort pushed by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. The House vote was 202 to 220, with 14 Republicans voting against it, two Republicans voting present and three Democrats voting for it. Johnson would not reveal on Wednesday ahead of the planned vote what he would do if the GOP government funding plan fails and said he has spoken to Trump “a lot” about government funding after the former president floated a government shutdown. Trump had previously said that if Republicans don’t receive “absolute assurances” about election security, they should not pass a funding extension. The six-month funding plan from House Republicans would have extended government funding until March 2025.

Shares of Intel gained more than 3% on Tuesday after the chipmaker said it would turn its foundry business into an independent unit — allowing it to raise outside capital . The analyst added that Intel's plan to establish its foundry business as an independent subsidiary was "expected and not good." "We expect Intel's EPS to be under pressure given its foundry business, which we believe has minimal chance of succeeding," he wrote.
