CNN —The most diverse US women’s gymnastics team in history will begin competing this weekend at the Olympic Games, inspiring younger gymnasts in the process. But far from Paris, at James Jones Gymnastics Academy (JJGA) in Jonesboro, Georgia, everyone — from the eponymous Jones himself to his gymnasts – are Black. The gym owner and coach said seeing this year’s diverse Olympic team competing at the highest level in a sport where their race has been underrepresented is inspiring. “It makes me feel wonderful,” Jones told CNN. Jones said he had also seen the effect this Olympic team was having on his young gymnasts.

CNN —Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart has been suspended three games without pay after an altercation with a Phoenix Suns player prior to a game between the two teams, the NBA announced. The 22-year-old was arrested for assault after punching Suns forward Drew Eubanks before the two teams played on February 14 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. “The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such as this are unacceptable,” a Suns spokesperson previously told CNN. Stewart is in his fourth season with the Pistons, averaging 11 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in 35 games played this season. CNN —Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart was arrested and cited after an altercation with a Phoenix Suns player prior to Wednesday’s NBA game between the two teams. Stewart was arrested for assault, issued a citation and released, according to a news release from the Phoenix Police Department, after punching Drew Eubanks. Stewart, 22, is in his fourth season with the Pistons and Eubanks, 27, is a forward for the Suns.
