CNN —Kehinde Wiley, the American artist best known for painting former US President Barack Obama’s official portrait, has denied accusations of sexual assault. In an Instagram post shared Sunday, British-Ghanaian artist and curator Joseph Awuah-Darko alleged Wiley sexually assaulted him twice in 2021. Awuah-Darko said the first incident occurred on June 9, 2021, at a dinner held at the Noldor Artist Residency in Ghana, to celebrate Wiley’s work. In Sunday’s Instagram post, he wrote that reporting the assault in Ghana “would have been problematic at best — dangerous at worst,” given the country’s broader attitudes towards LGBTQ people. Wiley rose to international fame in 2017, when he was chosen to paint Obama’s official portrait for the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

CNN —While Marvel fans are excited for the super-heroic teamup between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in this summer’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” there is another character – of the four-legged variety – set to make her debut in the movie as well. “Her real name is Peggy, and she won the award for Britain’s Ugliest Dog,” Reynolds told Empire Magazine in an article published on Tuesday. “It was one of those things where you just keep listening to the movie, and Dogpool became a staple.”According to BBC, Peggy won the unique title of Britain’s ugliest dog in January of 2023. Equipped with her very own “Dogpool” Instagram page, Peggy also appeared in a still from the new movie on Reynolds’ own Instagram in December of last year. “It’s love at first sight,” he told Empire of the bond between his character Deadpool and the pup.

CNN —Consider journalist Bryan West the “lucky one,” because he’s The Tennessean and USA Today network’s new Taylor Swift reporter. “So, I do follow a lot of Taylor news. I know about every outing, every new song, every lyric, every album release, every party,” he added. Touting his technical skills as a multi-platform journalist and a licensed drone pilot, West went on to highlight his track record for predicting Swift’s album announcements and how he’s one of the 100 accounts the official “Eras Tour” Instagram account follows. Gannett also posted a separate job listing at the time for a Beyoncé Knowles-Carter reporter.

Instagram announced on Monday that it would put its Create button back in the center of its main navigation bar and remove the Shop tab. While the dedicated Shop tab will disappear, Mosseri said in his Reel that “you’ll still be able to shop on Feed, in Stories, in Reels and in ads.” Instagram also stated on its help page that it would “continue to invest in shopping experiences that provide the most value for people and businesses across feed, stories, reels, ads and more.”The Shop tab, along with the Reels tab, was introduced to the in-app navigation bar in 2020, according to TechCrunch. The decision to redesign the navigation bar to include these tabs instead of the Create or Activity functions was controversial, sparking backlash from users who felt the platform was prioritizing businesses and influencers. The Reels tab, which is currently in the center position of the navigation bar, will move a space to accommodate the Create tab. In recent months, high-profile users like Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian have called out Instagram for overpromoting Reels.
