LOS ANGELES — When Simone Biles won her first world championship in 2013, her agent at the time asked her a seminal question: What did she hope to accomplish in the sport of gymnastics? Olympic gold medals may have come up, but one of the wish list items Biles remembers most fondly was a long-held desire to have her own tour across the U.S.Like many of her goals, it has come to fruition in spectacular fashion. In the decade since she first pondered her aspirations in the sport, Biles has won 11 Olympic medals and 30 world championship medals, making her the most decorated gymnast in history. After her tour de force showing at the Paris Olympics this summer, she is making the rounds to 30 American cities to connect and celebrate with the fans who cheered her to greatness from home. It’s called the Gold Over America Tour, which can be abbreviated, appropriately, as “GOAT.”“It’s really about sharing that love and passion for the sport with the audience,” Biles said backstage before Friday’s Los Angeles show.

Biles said in a press release that she is “so excited” and described the tour as “a victory lap around the US.”“It’s more of a celebration tour,” Biles told CNN’s Coy Wire ahead of the tour’s upcoming fourth show in San Jose on Saturday. Biles and co. visited Los Angeles on Friday, with the next leg of the tour scheduled to take place in San Jose on Saturday. This is the second Gold Over America Tour that Biles has led. The tour has been referred to by its acronym “GOAT,” more than likely a nod to Biles’ legendary standing in professional gymnastics. Part of warmup for a recent involved a spot of “goat yoga,” which saw Biles and Chiles balance a live goat on their backs.

Simone Biles said she closed her time at the Paris Olympics "bawling my eyes out" to her teammates, after a glorious run where the 27-year-old superstar secured four medals — three gold and one silver. But after winning her 10th Olympic medal in Saturday's vault final, Biles said for the first time that the Los Angeles Games in 2028 could be in her future. Her appearance in Paris makes her the oldest U.S. Olympic gymnast in 72 years. Before Paris, Biles was already the most decorated gymnast in history from any country including world medals in the tally, with 37 world and Olympic medals combined. While she kept the door open for a return to the Olympics, Biles also acknowledged the physical and emotional toll of the Games. Biles has the chance to win two more gold medals in Paris.

Biles held off a spirited challenge from brilliant Brazilian Rebeca Andrade, who once again won silver and Biles’ teammate Suni Lee took the bronze. All this comes not long since Biles said she had considered walking away from gymnastics having experienced a mental block called “the twisties” at the Tokyo Olympics. “She’s fun to be around, relatable, and what you see is what you get,” Katie Walsh, the director of Netflix’s recently released documentary, “Simone Biles: Rising,” told CNN. “Leading up to the Paris Olympics, we wanted to show a larger audience that Simone was not only the G.O.A.T. Calm and ready like she was before the team final, she promises to be a formidable force.
