New York CNN —Tesla shareholders on Thursday confirmed they want Elon Musk to get a massive record pay package for running Tesla for the last six years. “The chancellor found a number of defects in the process.”But Tesla shareholders also approved moving Tesla’s state of incorporation to Texas, partly in reaction to the Delaware decision. “What we recognized in 2018 and continue to recognize today is that one thing Elon most certainly does not have is unlimited time,” Tesla board chair Robyn Denholm wrote to Tesla shareholders ahead of the most recent vote. Ark Invest has a five-year target price for Tesla shares at $2,600 a share. Not everyone on that list got there through packages of stock options.

The Washington Post is in trouble. This third newsroom will be comprised of service and social media journalism and run separately from the core news operation. AdvertisementStill, it's quite clear that Lewis, installed by Bezos last fall, has surveyed the existing Washington Post business strategy — run a newspaper with national ambitions and a subscription-based revenue model — and concluded that it didn't work. The more concerning part of Lewis' plan is that he now has two plans: There's The Washington Post, which will presumably continue to act like the old Washington Post. And there's the new, unnamed version of The Washington Post, which will operate very differently.

NEW YORK (AP) — Jeff Bezos is leaving Seattle, where the billionaire founded Amazon out of a garage nearly three decades ago. Seattle has been Bezos' home since 1994, when he started Amazon out of his garage. Thursday's Instagram post includes a brief video tour led by Bezos of Amazon's first, humble office, with his father behind the camera. Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon in early 2021, citing the desire to devote more time to philanthropy and other projects. But Bezos still has broad influence over Amazon as executive chair and the company's biggest shareholder.

Yet lately it has occurred to me that Lahiri came of age in circumstances very different from mine or Sathian’s. In an essay Lahiri later wrote about the state, she said that her family “didn’t fundamentally belong” there, recounting that her mother once received nine pieces of racist hate mail while working at the elementary school Lahiri had attended. By the 2000 census — the year Lahiri won her Pulitzer — the number of Indian immigrants in the United States had increased 20-fold since 1970. In my mid-20s, after that conversation with Jenny, I decided to write about Indian Americans again. I also started writing the stories that appear in my new collection, “This Is Salvaged,” featuring Indian Americans in multicultural communities.

WASHINGTON — Jeff Bezos has his NASA moon ticket. The billionaire's space company Blue Origin won a key contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration on Friday to develop a crewed lunar lander for delivering astronauts to the moon's surface later this decade under the agency's Artemis program. NASA's contract award is worth just over $3.4 billion, officials said Friday, while Blue Origin Vice President John Couluris said the company will contribute "well north" of the contract's value as well. "We're making an additional investment in the infrastructure that will pave the way to land the first humans on Mars," NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in announcing the Blue Origin award. Bezos said in a tweet Friday he's "honored to be on this journey with @NASA to land astronauts on the Moon — this time to stay."
Even the uber-rich are fretting about the economy now

New York CNN Business —Even the uber-rich are on edge now about the economy. Musk, for his part, was a little more sanguine as he sought (unsuccessfully, in the end) to ease Wall Street’s concerns about Tesla’s growth prospects. Yep, the probabilities in this economy tell you to batten down the hatches. The comments from Musk and Bezos add to a chorus of powerful figures fretting that the economy is going to take a turn for the worse. I want to know.”It’s a reasonable worry: Researchers recently put the probability of a global recession at a little over 98%.
Every recession in the 20th and 21st century has followed predictable metrics — spending drops, unemployment rises, and manufacturing slows down. If you examine the economy with rising prices in mind, it looks like we're in a recession. Since the word is on everyone's lips, it's important that we hammer down the meaning of a recession. That said, we live in uncertain times, and nobody can predict whether or not a recession is imminent. Are Americans spending enough money to ensure that the service economy continues to add jobs?
